This large sheltered campsite is suitable for larger vehicles. There are lots of different areas to park up on and call your own and there is a large turning bay at the end of the gravel road.
This is a great place for fishing, swimming, BBQing and walking. The Lake Gunn Nature Walk starts from here, it is a flat, easy, 45 min return walk from the campsite to the edge of Lake Gunn

Nice and easy to and from milford sounds. Is not worth $15 p.p a night, we have stayed at many DOC sites now loads better than this. Toilets were smelly and sandfly's a plenty. Followed a earlier recommendation to park in an exposed area for a little less sandfly's. This worked

Location: it is okay, you have mountains around you but the camping is big. There is place for more than 50 campers
Insects: enough! Special a lot of sand flies
Wc’s: the are clean, longdrop toilets

This is a beautiful campsite, surrounded by snow-capped peaks, glacial streams, waterfalls and lakes, and a walkable indigenous forest.
We stayed here the night before our trip to Milford which was ideal as we had the roads (and free parking at Milford) to ourselves.
We did the short walk through the forest and swam in the (chilly) stream whilst the sun was out. Highly recommended!
Basic but adequate ablutions were available.

Big camp, lots of space, quite busy but not overcrowded. Long drops and cooking shelters and a few cheeky kea.
When we were there, there were fields of gorgeous purple lupins. The streams running through the camp are also very attractive. Great views of mountains.

Beautiful setting...surrounded by streams, mountains, and wildflowers. Pretty busy/vans parked next to each other, but what can you expect? Toilets were fine/as expected.

This is a great place to stop at on the way to Milford sound. It’s a large site by a river, with a few cooking shelters and decent toilets.
It rained a lot, but cleared up just in time for the most amazing sunset.
We got up early and drive to Milford sound on completely empty roads, allowing us to enjoy the views without being stuck in traffic. The sandflys were vicious though, so be warned!

Pretty much paying for proximity at this campsite. The long drop toilets are not too great, but at least have sanitizer. We saw quite a few people using the outdoor kitchens which looked nice. The spots are plentiful and big at least!
Thanks to all the good people working for the NZ Department of Conservation - for all your hard work - making NZ more beautiful, accessable and healthy! Cheers 😍
