Amazing campsite, best value around Queenstown, we’d say.
We had a lot of fun playing pingpong and Pac-Man and more. The kitchens are super modern and clean and nice. Same for toilets and showers. Beautiful lake views from (most) sites. To quote my partner: ‘Best campsite ever, worth every penny.’
South Island ▷ West Coast ▷ Cron street ▷
Cool campsite, the sites are small but quite private as the campsite is super green!
The facilities seem they have been set up temporarily, so not the nicest, but hot showers did the trick.
South Island ▷ Southland ▷ Invercargill ▷
Parking next to city park.
In April it felt a bit sketchy, only some trucks stopped there, no other campers. Better to stay at the golf course place 5min away, for a small fee. Only has the city public toilets
South Island ▷ Wanaka Region ▷ Lake Hawea ▷
You can pick your own spots for the most parts and the unpowered spots can be really beautiful right on the lake!
Kitchen and showers are decent. They have cool features such as food truck and sauna (costs extra). Around $40 2 adults unpowered.
South Island ▷ Canterbury ▷ Banks Peninsula ▷
A bit overpriced (55, 2 persons, powered per night, 50 unpowered) with hot showers costing 2 extra dollars (only accepts 2$ coin but the owner had change).
Three showers, only one has regulated temperature, the others are fixed 42°C water.
The outside kitchen is nice but simple (covered).
Most of the sites are not level.
South Island ▷ Canterbury ▷ Lyttelton ▷
We didn't stay here, there is no showers.
18 powered p/p, per night, but besides that very basic. Perhaps it's nicer in the summer, but definitely not in April.
South Island ▷ Fiordland ▷ Te Anau ▷
The campsite is mostly fine, there are nice spots in the woods and/or quite close to the lake.
But a large part is right next to the road and the drop toilets were absolutely the nastiest we’d seen so far in New Zealand. Doesn’t seem worth the $15 pp, but cheapest around Te Anau. No cell reception.
South Island ▷ Coastal Otago ▷ Dunedin ▷
Beautiful huge grass fields, lots of space to camp (it says the middle area is just for tents, but there were so little tents and some campervans all over, it was still not crowded at all.
It has portable loos and free toilets on the day use area. It has a sink for dishes and trash bins. Obviously no showers, tho, but amazing for a free site.
South Island ▷ Wanaka Region ▷ Wanaka Township ▷
Huge pretty campground with a lot of trees.
You can have river views too. $ 11 pp seems decent. There’s flush toilets and 2 sinks to do dishes (cold water). And some more drop toilets spread around the grounds. 20 minutes driving to the start of Isthmus peak trail if I remember correctly.
South Island ▷ Fiordland ▷ Te Anau ▷
Pretty nice campsite, relatively nice drop toilets well spread around too.
The campsite is really big and nice places next to the river and amazing mountain views. $ 15 pp and DOC staff came checking whether people had paid (we were there on a Saturday night). Good location for an early cruise in the morning, it took us about 50 minutes to drive to Milford Sound.
South Island ▷ Canterbury ▷ Christchurch ▷
$10 a night is a good deal.
Clean flush toilets, soap and hand towels provided. Big grass field, loads of space. Works with a self registration system and trust box for payment. Light near the toilet block is on all night and toilet block has lights on a sensor after dark. There was only one other camper besides ourselves on a weekday night halfway through April.
North Island ▷ Tairāwhiti Gisborne ▷ Gisborne ▷
Pretty campsite, not loads of privacy, as the spots are all lined up without much green in between.
Nice facilities though. Good kitchen too. Well maintained.
South Island ▷ Southland ▷ Mossburn ▷
Amazing campsite and what a bargain.
$40 powered or unpowered. We were 2 people, I believe there’s a different price for solo travellers. It’s basically a big grass field where you can just pick your spot. Impeccable amenities, all quite old/simple but super clean and good hot showers and a great kitchen. There are amazing details everywhere, from the the way they painted the amenities block to the chickens and peacocks roaming the grounds, the beautiful way they’ve done the garden and the fact you can feed the lama’s. Check-in until 9 pm and the and very friendly staff!

Great little spot right next to the golf course, sheltered enough.
$20 per vehicle for powered, $15 for unpowered. You have access to the toilets and showers ($2) of the golf course club house, which are impeccably clean. There’s even a little camp kitchen with hot water and a stove.
Absolutely great for a free camping spot.
Drinking water, a dump spot and $5 showers at the inn if you want them. The spot is quite secluded and we had a nice view of a horse. When we got there around 5pm there were about 3 spaces left. It filled up completely for the night.
South Island ▷ Coastal Otago ▷ Portobello ▷
Stayed here one night, it was fine but quite expensive for what it offers, $24 pp powered, $22 pp unpowered.
Amenities are quite old and not the cleanest. The camping spots were all lined up, plenty of space but not lots of privacy. Has everything though, warm showers obviously and good kitchen.
South Island ▷ Canterbury ▷ Geraldine ▷
Nice campsite, not a lot of tourists and a lot of permanent residents, however everyone seemed friendly.
The toilets and showers are outdated but clean. 25 for 2 people, powered, per night, so a great price. Kitchen with a lot of appliances and also table tenis and dart board. The sites are on nice green grass and all seem levelled. Would stay again.

Este lugar de campismo é excelente!
This review is dedicated to my German and French friends in this app <3
North Island ▷ Taranaki ▷ New Plymouth ▷
Nice big grass fields for unpowered sites at $14 pp.
Good facilities and it was windy and there was plenty of space to hide from that too.
North Island ▷ Taranaki ▷ New Plymouth ▷
Really pretty spot with lake views.
Not sure if you’re allowed to park in the grass, many people did, but plenty of actual parking spaces too. Also 5 or so designated spots for non-self contained vehicles. Good flush toilets as well.
South Island ▷ West Coast ▷ Hokitika ▷
Very simple campsite, but with flushing toilets and sink for dishes.
Perhaps not worth the 15$p/p but better than most DOC places. No phone reception since you leave the SH
South Island ▷ West Coast ▷ Fox Glacier ▷
Glow worm tour is a must do!
Ask at the reception, it is free.
The site has a nice kitchen, 4 showers and mostly levelled grass sites. Can't remember the price but was reasonable, around 40$ powered, 2p per night.
Would definitely stay again.
North Island ▷ Waikato ▷ Raglan ▷
Fair price at $ 15 per night.
Place to do your dishes with hot water. Hot shower for an extra $1. Big grass field with lots of big spots. We saw a beautiful sunset there!
North Island ▷ Ruapehu ▷ Tongariro / National Park Village ▷
Great big free campsite, it’s basically a huge parking lot.
The perfect base to explore the national park and especially for the Tangariro Croasinf as the shuttle picks you up right there.
Really good facilities, hot showers (5 min), stoves, sinks for dishes, BUT you have to pay with kiwi cash (that nowadays is called Penny). You can get a card in town at the gas station and top it up with the app. Don’t put too much money on there though, because used it like 1 more time in NZ afterwards, it’s really not that widespread and it costs $5 to get your money out again.

Our perfect campsite!
Amazing scenery, green rolling hills all around, cows, horses and friendly dogs too. Simple but effective and clean amenities, incl hot shower and fridge. And the owners were incredibly friendly and showed us around. All of that for a fair price.
