We provide you with Magnificent Mountain and lake views. A stunning holiday park on the lakefront of Lake Hawea. Lots of room to set up camp and relax.
A summer camping break at Lake Hawea Holiday Park has been a highlight for generations of kiwis – it’s time you found out why for yourself!
The park is sited on the shores of Lake Hawea, a deep blue, crystal clear glacial lake with rugged mountains plunging steeply into the water on three sides.
Just next to Glen Dene High Country station and within walking distance to Hawea township, foot access to the Hawea River trail (we rent good quality mountainbikes) you are also only a 15 minute drive to Wanaka township.
With 20ha of land dedicated to camping locations, you can choose from a variety of camping set-ups, all offering peaceful and sheltered locations with unique outlooks. There are beautiful mature trees and there is plenty of room to set up your camp with friends and family.

Amazing Campground!
Check-In with staff was very friendly, we had a nice spot between some trees. The lake is crystal clear and perfect for a wee swim and the surrounding mountains give a superb view. Would definetly come back.

The best place we stayed in New Zealand!
The most beautiful view, just by the lake. Friendly staff, and nice food truck with breakfast and dinner!

You can pick your own spots for the most parts and the unpowered spots can be really beautiful right on the lake!
Kitchen and showers are decent. They have cool features such as food truck and sauna (costs extra). Around $40 2 adults unpowered.

It's a beautiful spot.
Great mix of shade and sunny areas. Great lake swimming. So lovely we staid an extra night. Love the 'Secret Sauna' although we didn't use it. Some facilities were a little tired but they worked well and the water was hot. Would 100% recommend..

Really beautiful position and friendly team.
The kitchen facilities are a little small for the size of the campsite but otherwise would definitely stay again.

La personne qui nous a accueillis n'était pas du tout souriante et sympathique Les sanitaires font le job mais sont anciens (notamment les douches...) Bon terrain de jeux pour enfant, grands emplacements

Stayed here in a tent.
Limited tent sites it seems, gives the idea that there would be a lot of room to camp facing out to the lake but there is not unfortunately - no allocation of sites so people taking up twice the amount of space they need.
Tented at the very back of the camp in the trees. Facilities very outdated.
A lot of room for a lot of people just very expensive in comparison to the stay I had at Glendhu

Beautiful place to stay.
Nevertheless the facilities are very outdated and in really bad shape. Toilets have no seats and the only oven in the very small kitchen was out of order

Great place to stay!
Quiet, peaceful. Bar and hot food available. Great free showers. Lots of room. Great place for kids. Can bring pets if approved by management. Great all round. In our opinion one of the best holiday park in NZ. Check availability through Christmas and new year’s. Plenty of trees for shelter. Free 100mb and then have to pay for extra. Data reception not the best, kinda depends on where you stand as to how good it is. Washing machine =$4 dryer =$2. $2 coins only. Friendly and helpful staff. Will definitely come back here again.

Stayed on the 23th of December.
It was horrible. Facilities are way too small for so many campers. Decided not to cook as kitchen was full with people. If you want to wash your clothes expect to wait for an hour in front of the laundry shed as three out of five washers are out of order (and they were the nicer ones). The toilets and showers got dirty very fast. At least the showers were hot. But the facilities are also in quite a far walking distance from most sites. Sites with good view of the lake are rare and some boats are very noisy. But you can chose a spot with much space around if you don't mind not to have good views.
All in all, the campsite is okay and I stayed here twice as it is good situated. Out of season I payed 18$ and had a little bit better experience, still many people. Now I payed 25$ for a non-powered site! Very much overpriced in my view.

The staff at this place were really bad.
The showers had a fault and were scaldingly hot, burning my skin and scalp, but when politely letting the staff know about the problem so no one else got burned or hurt, one staff member (a small teenage boy with braces) in was really unprofessional and was smirking and laughing. On leaving the building, all three staff were laughing loudly, despite me being visibly upset and holding the top of my head in pain. It ruined my experience, and having immature staff running somewhere where professionalism is needed in serious situations like that is unsafe and reckless.

Awesome spot.
Facilities are a bit out dated but friendly staff, clean and well cared-for grounds. The groundsman even accommodated our request for a better lake view with the best view we could have ever imagined. Would stay again 😊

Nice little spot right in the lake with stubbing views.
Massive sized campground. Didn't use the kitchen facilities but showers and toilets were fine, albeit a bit far to walk from some sites. Friendly staff at check in. Would stay again

Large camp site under pine trees with some sites facing lake.
Older dated facilities but adequate. A track from the camp takes you to Lake front about a 10 minute walk.
