Sarah
Very cute, quiet and clean little campsite.
Chantal
Nice spot, great kitchen well supplied and decent showers.
Walkable to the local pub but not open early in the week.
Only downside, the guy on reception is very unwelcoming, shouldn’t be working with the public. Maybe he had a bad day. Maybe he should get a different job.

It’s an ok place.
The drive down there on the peninsula road is stunning.
The site itself is typical older NZ site. Only $24 for a powered site which was good.
Bathroom was clean but cold.
Maybe I got unlucky as it was wet and rainy but in general there’s not a lot in Portobello, the pub was empty, the cafe closed and 1 general store. Felt a bit bleak.

Stayed here one night, it was fine but quite expensive for what it offers, $24 pp powered, $22 pp unpowered.
Amenities are quite old and not the cleanest. The camping spots were all lined up, plenty of space but not lots of privacy. Has everything though, warm showers obviously and good kitchen.

Simple camping site with all facilities and amenities.
However its age shows and the view isn't anything special. Only thing to recommend it really is decent price and location (if your planning on doing a tour or outing on Otago Peninsula).

No more no less.
Little barbecue, not roofed. Kitchen facilities nicely equiped, but a little crowded. Warm showers. Clean.
Close to portobello with restaurant, cafe, bar, gas station and little grocery store.
Best place to stay if you wish to explore otago pininsula.
