What a lovely camping ground!
The pitches are well.placed with natural vegetation between them, so very private. The facilities were clean and the block I used relatively new and well kept. A five minutes' walk to the centre of the town ( Full of Beans is a great coffee shop and cafe) and right opposite the glacier adventures venue and information centre. Great spot!

Loved it here!
The parking spots feel quite private amongst greenery, separated by picnic tables so you aren’t on top of eachother. The bathrooms were great and also included unisex bathrooms which were fab for sharing toiletries with my other half! The ladies also had a hairdryer and straighteners to use. Toilets clean, flushable and with small bins. Plenty of mirrors and even chairs. 2 mins walk from centre, bars, restaurants.

Had a great stay here for 6 nights!
Loved all the small spots in the rainforest. But be aware - its quite humid everywhere, especially when it was raining! My car needs some sunshine to dry up again ;)
Wifi doesnt work that good, but there is good phone service with Spark. Kitchen is without pots.

Cool campsite, the sites are small but quite private as the campsite is super green!
The facilities seem they have been set up temporarily, so not the nicest, but hot showers did the trick.

Very interesting camping site with all spots nestled into pockets in the surrounding forest.
Felt very cozy and wild at the same time. Amenities are OK but nothing special. The ever present sheep jokes will put a smile on your face though :)
One of the better sites on our trip.

You can tell this place was created by fellow travellers, they’ve thought of everything. The showers are clean and hot, lots of power points, even hair dryers in the bathrooms. The campground is the perfect location while also offering privacy. Self check in was easy. Enjoyed my stay here!

Cute campsite, with lots of green, enough space for unpowered sites especially, but the laundry is way too expensive, nobody’s in the office and the facilities are too basic for that price (55 NZD powered
, 40 NZD unpowered for 2 adults + 2NZD Surcharge)

Lovely setting, but that’s about it.
Facilities are very poor with nowhere near enough kitchen space for the volume of people. The worst we’ve experienced in 2 months of travel in NZ. Terrible WiFi to boot. An easy 5* if they didn’t cheap on the basics. Just feels lazy tbh.

Very large, scenic, set amongst magical woods, for all types of vehicles (powered and non- powered site, small and large cars etc).
Visited Jan 16 - 17 Jan 2025
Very large, scenic, set amongst magical woods, for all types of vehicles (powered and non- powered site, small and large cars etc). Shower facilities good quality but only two for a very very large site. Kitchen was abismal - very very slow to heat up, very low power, only two units (for whole site)!!!
Actual individual site per vehicle so good and sectioned by natural foliage part of the forest.

+ views of the mountains and a short drive or Walk to Franz Josef viewing point
- Large vehicles might find it difficult to manoeuvre around the site.
