DOC campsite.
Big but quickly crowded. No reserved places for tents but possibility to put. Sunny day for us but so so windy. Impossible to stay outside. Dust + gravel in our faces. If you put up a tent, take a windproof and waterproof tent. All the commodities - toilet, drinking water, tap, shelter, rubbish. Many tracks all around. We did the one with more than 2000 steps. No so horrible. Close to the Mueller Glacier and beautiful view of Aoraki Mount Cook. Don't forget to look at the Tasman Glacier! PLEASE DON'T SPIT YOUR TOOTHPASTE OR THROW YOUR LIQUID DISH WASHING IN WATER AND EARTH. Protect and respect nature!

One of the best paid campsites I have never done.
Really cool. Owner friendly in his sofa. When we went it was very sunny, a long time with no rain and the ground was very dusty. Park your car at the left side of the oval. Quite crowded around 7pm. We stayed 2 nights, the 1st day the water was warm and the 2nd day was cold. You can ask to put something in the fridge (like beer). 6 plugs but quickly crowed. Many residential people.

Cool location.
Not far from Hamilton. Near the river but just a parking area. Water has a strange smell so be careful when you drink it. Toilet automatic, closed around 8p.m. Popular for family during the day. Toilet not so clean, but cleaned early morning. Dump station not so far.

Just a parking area near the road.
Too much noise and we had the door closed. Between the people arriving around midnight and others leaving around 6am too noisy. But not far from Picton. Full at 4:30pm. We parked our car at 11a.m (to book our place) and go in to Picton by hitchhiking. Water, tap, flush in toilet. Shelter also. Protect and respect nature!

Cool spot.
Do the walk which is just 10 minutes until the lookout. Table available to drink a beer at the top. Wild beach with many woods. No water, no tap. People throw their rubbish in front of the toilet, just so stupid. Trains but not often. PLEASE DON'T SPIT YOUR TOOTHPASTE OR THROW YOUR LIQUID DISH WASHING IN WATER AND EARTH. Protect and respect nature !

Beautiful location but the road to come to it is so dangerous.
We have a Toyota Estima 4WD but not enough to drive on this road. Some parts are just sand, so slippery and with going down so dangerous. Too much weight and my boyfriend lost the direction. We were close to having an accident. But well, a just beautiful location. The water was quite cold. No water supply. Only 10 spots are flat because the ground is steep. PLEASE DON'T SPIT YOUR TOOTHPASTE OR THROW YOUR LIQUID DISH WASHING IN WATER AND EARTH. Protect and respect nature !

The perfect spot in New Zealand.
Don works with the Rankers team. In exchange for all the services you have to give your feedback/reviews of about 6 activities you did in New Zealand (car van rental/ paid activities or DOC walks). Be prepared to write! And you have to share on social network (facebook, twitter or Instagram). You can also give money if you want. You can stay only one night so choose a sunny day to appreciate the spot. It's full very quickly. There are only 10 places.

We was disturbed on the Saturday night by cars. There is no water but the river isn't so cold. Around 20 cars can be parked but it's full around 7pm, very close to the road. Very cool because it is the only free camp in Golden Bay. And shade available!
