Beautiful lookout point. There is a shelter with a bench and a great place to have a picnic on the manicured grassy flat.

Beautiful spot that overlooks the moutains. Was VERY cold overnight and early morning but was amazing to wake up to some native birds and watch the sunrise, especially for free!
The spot looked full when we arrived at 4pm. But it is just really busy for the view. Most people left after 20min. There is room for 8 vehicles. Flat surface. The toilet smells really bad and there are a lot of sandflies and wasps.

Very basic site. Has a toilet, shelter, but no runnig water. The view is beautiful, and considering that it is free very recommendable for a night
Wasn’t very clear on the freedom parking so we moved on but I’m sure would have been fine to stay the night but we didn’t want to risk it

OK to spend the night, very few spots, dirty toilets but it's free 😊. Nice lookout!
Very quaint with pretty view. The toilets were okay for free camping, maybe a few to many odours compares to what we were used to in other freedom camping places but hey! They work the job! Don’t drive too fast on the gravel road it’s tilted and we did almost hurt ourselves arriving at night.
Nice lookout but only a few spots. However toilet is really smelly. Best to park further away from it. Would give it a higher rating but unfortunately there were some young 'hooligans' who got a kick out of disturbing the peace between 10.30pm to close to midnight. A number of them were doing donut stunts at the entrance to the lookout so we heard screeching tyres for a good hour or so and a car with a few of them came to where the campervans were parked and started shouting, honking and blasted their music just for laughs.
Nice place. Nice lookout. Only few place so come early or find an other place. Restroom but without water. Right place for one night.
Good enough for an overnight stop but nothing special. The drop loo was very smelly and gross and sand flies very annoying but at least it was free!
Nice spot to sleep one night. Beautiful view of the mountains. Clean toilet. Crowded at night, maybe difficult to find a free spot.
Beautiful lookout, watched the sunset over the mountains. Great location after a day at Abel Tasman. Easy to find, a very short gravel road off the main road leads you up to a small gravel parking lot. It's a small lot and it filled up quickly. Toilet was smelly, but it did the job.
Great view from the picnic table. Views from the 10 minute walk not as good but worth reading the historical significance of the area.
There are only a few places (10). We didn't see the lookout because of the weather. Be careful as the end of the road comes quickly and many cars drive too fast. Bad smell in the toilet. No water supply.
Thanks to all the good people working for the NZ Department of Conservation - for all your hard work - making NZ more beautiful, accessable and healthy! Cheers 😍
