Closest to Milford, very useful location for getting the first boat.
Fine as a campsite, okay long drops, fairly busy, nice to be near the river.

Welcoming feel - free food, washing up liquid & books by the sinks.
Clean toilets, good coffee shop next door. Can get hot showers at the community pool - have to go to the 4 square opposite for a key.

There is a flushing toilet by the entrance to the site, would recommend over the portaloos.

Loved this spot.
Amazing views of the lakes and mountain. Good for a swim. Peaceful. Would be a 10, but some of the worst long drop toilets we experienced.

Great spot.
All the sites felt really private with little hedges around and many with benches. Wifi included and could access from the van. Good hot showers. Only negative was it was advertised as $15 per person, but the guy doing the registration and payment seemed to pick the price when people arrived. Charged us $16 per person, but others paid $15, $17…a bit of a mixture!
Hi there! There's a $1 per person card fee. No one was charged $17. It was either $15 or $16. Glad you otherwise enjoyed your stay. Happy travels :)

Great view of the mountains!
One long drop toilet, felt overpriced when comparing the facilities to the Avalanche Creek site of the same price. But the location was incredible.

Incredible.
Our favourite paid site during our 6 week trip. Stunning views over the lake, close to Queenstown, friendly staff. Best facilities we experienced - amazing bathrooms with lots of clean hot showers, mirrors, hairdryers and straighteners. Dump station. Proper laundry room - like a laundromat. Water sources by each site. Highly recommend!

Nice spot overlooking the lake.
Not as noisy as expected considering how close it is to the road. Flushing toilets and bins. Did get stuck in a toilet stall, maybe avoid locking!

Perfect for doing the Hooker Valley Track at dawn for us. Was quite busy as so many walks start from here, but would recommend.

Decent location, close to Wanaka.
Feels like most of the freedom camps we stayed in. Had flushing toilets, but not the cleanest. Okay spot when no freedom available.

Ultimately just a car park and very full, but has public toilets, dump station, quiet overnight.

Brilliant stay.
We were planning to visit the hot pools anyway, so glad we did it with the campsite. Access to the pools is included in the campsite fee. ($60 unpowered spot for 2 people in small camper.) Campers have access to the pools before they open to the general public, we went for a sunrise dip and it was stunning and basically empty. Would recommend.

Stayed for one night after finding the one in town was full.
Good spot, close to public toilets and nice view over the lake. Slightly unclear in the car park with the number of freedom camping spots. Good location to explore Rotorua on foot.

Wouldn’t recommend.
Loud music and cars driving around the car park overnight and one car hit the lampost. It was our worst experience during our 6 weeks of freedom camping.
