Great parking spot with a direct view of the sea.
No toilets on site. We were there in mid-November and it was already quite full by 7 p.m. There were probably about 6 parking spots left free. We had a direct view of the sea. Wonderful!

A windy but very beautiful spot right on the coast.
Plenty of room for a good number of campers and the loos, although a bit of a stroll away, are very clean and pleasant. Great spot for a freedom camp!

Beautiful scenery, lots of space of the grass.
Found quite some locals camping there. Road was quiet during the night. Public toilets were smelly and dirty, shower out of service. Toilets are a 5 minute walk from the free camp grounds.

Beautiful views out to the water.
Far enough away from the main road.
No toilets or water facilities, but pretty good for a free site.

The weather was truly awful when we went but it was still a nice area with loads of space.
Clean toilets and also a shower in the disabled one which we didn't use since we only saw it the next day.

Excellent spot.
Right on the beach.
I saw the stars at night and the sunrise on the water.
There are public toilets nearby (I saw a shower in the one most on the right) and the Pink Shop is a great place for a coffee. I had breakfast there right after sunrise.

Nice view, free overnight parking directly at the water, but also directly next to a street with car and truck noises at night (they were honking while passing here).
There are toilets nearby, but they were dirty and smelled bad and everywhere was mud on the walls, door and on the bathroom sink probably because of the kids playground.

After a wonderful day at Pukorokoro Shorebird Center and Nature reserve, we went to this campsite which is in the same parking lot as the giant oyster catcher bird sculpture.
The bathrooms are 24hours and clean, also lighted throughout the night and at the other end of the parking lot by the playground. There is a trash can as well in the freedom camping section of the parking lot. Had a wonderful rest and beautiful views. Also would recommend the pink shop, we stopped in for breakfast and the woman was really accommodating when they didn’t have what we originally ordered and friendly. Definitely recommend this campsite!

Fantastic spot!!!
Clean toilets, beautiful view to wake up. There is still plenty of traffic but just the usual noise when camping.
Highly recommend for a picture perfect way to spend the night or wake up.

Good little spot to stay the night.
Basic port-a-loos, no water. Rocky shoreline, not great for little kids as lots of oyster shells but nice little playground a short walk away, shop and plenty of crab hunting :-)

You get quite alot of road noise, lessens after dark.
Great views with gentle wave lapping even with strongish offshore winds. Nice portaloo toilets.
