Wouldn't do Milford Sound any other way.
Saw heaps of seals (5+), saw a Fiordland Penguin feeding on a fish, and Stirling Falls from directly underneath.
What a day!
Don't need to be overly fit to take part in these either.
Good 3hr trip :)

AWESOME place. We went mid April and basically had the place to ourselves. Spots for fires. Bathroom and trash area provided. Stay in spot U20 and the cove next to the camp spot is awesome for swimming.
Sand flies out of control. Bring bug spray.

There were 9 of us traveling together, ages 13 - 80 and on our second day in New Zealand we had a private tour with Rebecca and her brother in law.
We each loved the tour! They made it personal and genuine. We really felt like we were getting a view into the world of the Maori, their culture and their ways. Cannot say enough good things about it, and would do it again!

Excellent camp site which makes you feel you are well away from civilization. Site is large and has many trees around so plenty of shade on a hot day. Many tables scattered around where you can have your meals. Toilets are basic but all clean. There is a nice roofed outdoor kitchen area with sinks and BBQ to use. Loved to have a river right next to the site where my 7 year old boy had plenty of fun to play in. For Lord of the Rings Fans there is a 20 minute walk through the bush to visit the film set of Rivendell and that is all free of charge for a change! Unfortunately we run out of time and only stayed for a day. Wish I could have spend another couple of days to soak up nature.

Very nice location, best view of the mountains with direct access to Lake Wakatipu. No toilets, no ranger, but sandflies of doom in the morning. No tap. Still one of the best (or the best) free campsite we have seen.
