We came here in our campervan in July and had almost the whole place to ourselves. The host couldn't have been anymore helpful than he was and everything was clean. The only thing that was annoying was the wifi didn't work all the time. But hey it was free. Would recommend this place over any of the bigger parks. And we got to watch the full moon rise and the sunrise too. It's the place where you will see them rise first in the world. If in the area would stay here again.

So I had my very first Dive with Dan and Dave. I didn't know what to expect and was therefore a bit nervous. Despite that I never felt unsafe because Dan always told us what to do next. I especially appreciated his patience in and under the water since it took me some time to get used to the diving. Because of that the first dive was to be honest not that enjoyable as I was focused on the breathing and all the things you have to pay attention to.
That is why I was really surprised how much fun the second dive was. The techniques of the diving were far easier to perform and so I could enjoy the feeling of beeing 10m deep in the water. It was a special experince to feel like beeing weightless and to swim with some fish.
Thanks again to Dan and Dave for all the patience, the photos and not to forget the pancakes (which I ate for the first time the english way)!

It was rainig all day long - but I had such a great day with Tongariro River Rafting.
After a short briefing (good equipment and all information needed) we went to the river. It was a lot of fun as our guide Nick was simply great!
Afterwards we went to a hot pool and then back to the base. There we had some yummy hot soup with bread and laughed about the great pictures that were taken during the trip.
I can highly recommend this tour - also on a rainy day (as you get wet anyways).
Thanks again to the whole staff and our guide Nick.

Awesome location, next to the river bank in the middle of nowhere! No phone reception, no traffic, nothing but just nature! Would recommend when travelling from Tauranga to Opito to East Cape. Just make sure you arrive before dark as the road is a bit tricky.
