What a beautiful spot! Stopped on a tour of the East Cape mid February and ended up staying for 2 nights it was so beautiful. Facilities are good, if a little dated - this is a remote site! WiFi was free and price very reasonable. Parked up right next to the beach. Perfect.

The glacier retreated so much in the last few years (by hundreds of meters) that to me it seems that it lost it's atractivity at all. I was there 7 years ago and could not recognize the place. The walk to the face also takes much longer now. A great example of warming effects though.

I have had a great time making my open water course at dive north. I have seen a lot of fish already at the beginning in the shallow bay where I trained the technics and later on as well. Good view under water at all dives. Felt pretty comfortable with my diving instructor Katie. She was very calm and patient at all times. It was also a lot of fun with the rest of the team. Good food and drinks...
Thanks to Katie and the team. I have had a lot of fun despite the mask clearing :)

Such a cool trip along the Tongariro River. Everyone at the office was very welcoming and helpful. Our guide Ben was great- really comfortable and experienced in rafting, knowledgeable about the surroundings and just a good guy all around. The rapids were a little wild but so much fun. Overall such a worthwhile trip. Definitely recommended!

Excellent legal free site in Wellington. Particularly good for self-contained camper vans heading for ferry to South Island, though you can stay a maximum of 4 nights in a month if you have time to see Wellington as well. It is however only a windy car park adjacent to the marina, under the airport flight path and close to traffic but none of this prevented a good night's sleep.

Note - only the south end of the car park, nearest to the traffic lights, is for camper vans.

Route to Interislander ferry terminal is very simple - just follow the coast road right through the city and watch for ferry signs in the last km. Takes about 10-15 mins.

This place is a great little find! We paid $10 each and an additional $5 for power, internet is included at no extra cost. There are no kitchen facilities (just an outside sink area) but they do have an onsite cafe. Lovely, genuine people in a beautiful setting with very clean facilities! Overall great value and highly recommended.

Easy 20 min drive from Marlborough. Last km gravel but dead flat and alongside river channel and vines. Great site under trees. Don't go too far, limit for camping well signed. Nice wander to beach to watch surf and locals fishing. Toilets ok, and camp ground quiet even on Sat night at end of Jan whereas Marlborough sites were v busy. Thanks to Local Authority for top freedom site!

6 points for the dives. For me it was less for the money. ( 260$ for 2 dives incl. Equipment) I read a lot about the diving places and I expected more from the places. The landscape is very nice.

Much better to approach this site from the south as road is sealed all the way. Approach from north is not easy to follow and is a very long way on unsealed roads! So if you come from the north, wait for the second turning marked Trounson Kauri Park. Site is very small and peaceful. Has powered sites for campervans but these are small and all on gravel! Hot showers and basic kitchen make it very good value at $10 per person. Walked through kauri forest at night and heard but didn't see kiwis. Glow worms were lovely.
