Stayed here for four nights and is a great site.
Area is huge, flat and has well looked after toilets. Bins also. Approx 30 minutes from Christchurch centre.

Best bit is the fork in the track to the Tasman River.
Quiet and can see the lake and icebergs up close whist seeing the glacier terminal.

Tough going stepped walk.
2 hour return, views good but don't really change on the way up. Do if you have time but don't sacrifice Hooker Valley.

Right on the beach with toilet and cold beach shower. Tricky to get a level place to park but one of few free places in the area.

Well sign posted, we arrived just after 8.00am and saw one penguin.
Aim to get there 7.30am or earlier. You will need good eyes and good zoom as away from the action

Parking area on grassy area next to main road.
Handy if travelling across country, no facilities but one of the few free sites in the area. Quiet despite being just off the main road and lovely sunrise over a small pond

Quiet car park, free!
Lovely waterfall walk just 10 mins return on site. Long drop toilet, unfortunately a haven for flies / wasps. Not for the faint hearted, but did the job for one night.

Great spot just 10 / 15 minute drive from Wellington centre.
Good clean toilets but no shower. Someone came around checking self contained certificates around 9am. This is meant to be for self contained only but non self contained did stay. Not forgetting it's free! Recommend to others.

5 powered hookups available for a super cheap $5. Small cafe and toilets available too. Lovely spot!

Overpriced but decent facilities.
Showers and laundry were good and right next to blue lake. Wifi wasn't good and very expensive for $24 per person for powered site.
