GERARD & AXELLES
very nice spot. enough space for 50 or more. doc campsite.
only one droptoilet though.
but it's for self contained only, so should not be a problem.
beautiful swimming spots and views.
safe, clean and simple.
Fantastic site! Got here around 4pm and it was already very full. We stayed New Years Eve and there was easily 100 free campers or more. One long drop toilet hence the -1 rating. Good spot to swim in the lake too, just be mindful of the ski lane which we weren’t and got yelled at by some locals. Very quiet at night!

Great place to stay, although it can be crowded.
The lake view on a bright day is amazing
It is a good campsite close to Taupo. We arrived around 19.00 and there were few sites. It is good indicated

Amazing location and free!
We came here with our 7m long camper. A lot of space available. Very beautiful sunset seen over the lake. It is possible to go swimming.
Toilet is available but no water. (This is 1 point minus in the rating).
We would stop here again next time.
Many campers, even if toilet is available, it's better to use own one. Nice view on the lake. You can hear traffic from the road.
Good views but crowded and no order to where people park up, large site however. It’s a bit of a free for all. Only 1 toilet for a very large site was a bit of an issue. Views are great if you can get a lake side spot.
Really nice place although very crowded. Need to come early but the view is fantastic and the lake is nearby to jump into it. We did not use the toilet so not comment on that. But we came here back on the second day - recommend it.
Beautiful location on the lake, a lot of space, a little windy.
Amazingly beautiful spot, right on the banks of Lake Taupo.
Lots of parking, probably 15-20 spots for self contained spots. Lots of great walks in the area, and just outside Taupo township
Fabulous fabulous right on the lake. Just one drop toilet. No water.
You need to arrive here early to get a decent spot.
The place is really crowded and has only one really basic toilet which has no toilet paper! So remember that.
Other than that the view over Taupo Lake is beautiful.
Thanks to all the good people working for the NZ Department of Conservation - for all your hard work - making NZ more beautiful, accessable and healthy! Cheers 😍
