What a shame they have decided to charge each adult $18 to walk the track, in my opinion this is absolute greed hence the "1" rating.
A gold coin charge would be more appropreate.

A great little campsite, nice view of the mountain, had 3 nights there in June, nice clear nights good frost.
Water supply is the same as Ohakune township so ok to drink. One long drop toilet that was clean. Easy to get a 22 foot caravan in there. Will be back.

Nice campground, 6 BBQ tables and bbq/fireplaces, tap water, 1xrubbish bin, 1x longdrop toilet.
Plenty of forest walks to do.

Campsite situated in very pleasant surroundings, there is a stream and if you look, water holes for cooling off in.
A nice walk through the bush to the Wentworth Falls, and there is another walk from the campsite down to the day picnic area through the bush and a couple of old mine shafts can be seen.
The campsite has two hot showers at $2 for 5min's, there are two gas bar-b-ques under a shelter which appear to be free, toilets were a little smelly but not unbareable, Price $10 per adult. All in all a nice place to stay and so close to Whangamata.

Just spent the weekend here, spacious camp ground on the shores of Lake Arapuni, in a very picturesque setting.
The toilets are excellent, stainless steel flush toilets, there is also an area undercover with sinks for washing dishes etc, two taps in the camp ground for water. There are Bar-b-que tables with a fireplace beside each table. Would appear to be quite popular as a few day visitors arrived for picnic's, fishing and boating activities. The cost was $6 per adult. The road into the camp site is gravel and winding with a steep hill as you drop down into the camp ground, I towed a 22 foot caravan behind a Toyota Hilux ute and had no problem with corners....Will be back again, awesome place.

A really nice campsite, with flush toilets, hot showers for $1, facilities very clean, shaded campsites, can see the beach and ocean from campsite.
Really enjoyed our stay, only downfall is the camp is beside the main road and a railway line with frequent trains, however that didnt worry us and we will go back there. Also fishing appears to be good off the beach from what I saw the weekend we stayed. Price very reasonable, $15.50 for 2 adults and 2 kids. Run by the Whakatane District Council

Spent 3 days here, good camp, flush toilets, one hot shower and camp can get busy so might have a wait.
Very handy to beach which is just the other side of the sand dunes boardering the camp site. Shops, takeaway, and pub handy. Very accomodating manageress who squeezed us in as the camp was rather full due to a motor home rally being there. All in all a good labour weekend.

Quite location beside the road near the Waipapa Dam, quite scenic, there is a boat ramp near by, and two picnic tables and Bar-B-Que / Fireplaces.
There are no toilets or water supply. There was quite a bit of rubbish scattered about, looks like some lazy person dumped a household rubbish bag.

A secluded camp site beside Lake Whakamaru, set amoungst trees, lots of areas to set up camp, some small nooks and crannies for smaller tents that would give some privacy.
Mens and Ladies long drop toilet, of the modern type. Gets very popular over the December / January holiday period.

What an awesome camping ground, right beside the stream (site # 8) I have stayed at many camp grounds, but this would have to be the best as far as up keep of facilities.
The amenities Kitchen, Toilets, Showers Games Room, TV Lounge are so clean. The owners are very helpful and friendly. We had no difficulty in manouvering a 22 foot caravan on to site. Highly recomend this campsite. Will be back!!

This is a great place to camp in the Pureora Forest, have been going there on and off for the past 30 years.
There are 3 campsites that make up this camping ground, and have fire places, longdrop toilets, there are no showers, but a nice stream beside the camp ground for water supply or bathing. Nice to see and hear the native birds during the day and Moreporks at night. A good bush walk called the Rimu Walk well worth doing, only takes about 30 mins, also further up the road from the camp is a walk to the "centre of the north island" http://www.waymarking.com/waymarks/WM6BD1_Centre_of_the_North_Island_New_Zealand........
Back to nature campsite.

A great campsite on the shores of Lake Whakamaru, very senic spot.
Long drop toilets which are relatively new, no showers or running water but plenty in the lake. Very popular in summer time for water sports, and the camp ground is busy over the Christmas / New Year holiday period

Really nice scenic spot, Went there with caravan and two children, were quite a few campers there, some tourists had to much to drink by 4pm in the afternoon, and it was obvious it was going to be party
central as speakers were set up outside of their camper vans and no doubt they were going to settle in for the night. Decided not to stay and moved on. I guess I may have struck it on a bad night, may not be always like that, but you know first impressions!!!!!!!!!

Have had 9 nights in our caravan there on and off over the recent school holidays.
The owners are very pleasant. We found the camp ground good, and price very reasonable. As we were camping there we were entitled to use the 2 hot mineral pools and the swimming pool with out charge, great as we were in them 3 times a day. The facilities were tidy and clean. Would definetly go back there again.

Boat Access only, been there twice and it is a really nice spot.
Toilets are composting type and can become a bit smelly during summer when there are plenty of campers. Not a big camp ground and is very popular in summer months and can become a bit over populated. However it's a great spot and will be back again.
