Large grass area on the bank of the river.
Its a new spot after the origional was closed due to damage. Very basic but its an ideal spot to head before or after a ferry sailing. Beware of pot holes
North Island ▷ Wairarapa ▷ Masterton ▷
Beautiful spot on a summers day.
Plenty of ducks and geese. Toilets were ok, but closed at night. It is a very busy location and clearly a favourite with the locals. Level carport. There are a few permanents there but they seemed harmless enough
North Island ▷ Wairarapa ▷ Featherston ▷
Its a good spot for anyone getting off the ferry in Wellington heading north through the Wairarapa.
It was a very quiet spot right on the edge of native forest. Nice view of the river. Enough reception for messaging.
Gravel road access.
North Island ▷ Tairāwhiti Gisborne ▷ Te Kaha ▷
I absolutly love this spot.
Its to beautiful. I turned up to stay 1 night and ended up staying 4 nights. I had the place to myself for the majority of it. Very large area. There are no toilets so you must be self contained. The campsite Perched above a few coves, I will definatly be back.
North Island ▷ Taupo Region ▷ Turangi ▷
Very small car park.
Enough for 3-4. It was tight for my 6m camper. Great view. Very quiet.
North Island ▷ Bay of Plenty ▷ Tauranga ▷
Seems nice enough, unfortunatly there was a very foul odor when I arrived, so I left for another spot.
No cell reception
North Island ▷ Bay of Plenty ▷ Tauranga ▷
The planes and trains were loud.
But it worked well in a pinch. The toilets are a fair walk from the freedom camping spot. If your want to be right in the bussel, this spots for you
North Island ▷ Bay of Plenty ▷ Mt Maunganui ▷
Plenty of room.
It has potable water. Clean and tidy
North Island ▷ Bay of Plenty ▷ Tauranga ▷
It is a very small car park.
My 6 metre camper pretty much reached the size limit. Wonderful walk to the falls. And the falls themselves were worth the stay. Be aware, the walk back up to the camper was a killer. Busy spot for locals walking the tracks.
North Island ▷ Tairāwhiti Gisborne ▷ Opotiki ▷
Right in the side of the road by a cattle effluent dump.
Easy access but no potable water.
North Island ▷ Hawkes Bay ▷ Waipukurau ▷
Beautiful spot nestled between the hills and the beach.
There were only a couple of spots left when I arrived. Has toilets, beach access. It was so nice being right on the waterfront.
North Island ▷ Hawkes Bay ▷ Te Awanga ▷
This spot was very busy when I came.
If your after peice and quiet be sure to park at the far side of either end of the reserve. It does have a wonderful view of the sea. And plenty of trees to find some shade.
North Island ▷ Manawatu - Wanganui ▷ Mangatainoka ▷
This was such a quiet sweet spot.
Open field, trees to park under. Little bit of phone reception. Will stay again
North Island ▷ Rotorua Region ▷ Rotorua ▷
Beautiful spot by the lake.
I was the only one there. You are literally right on the water. Toilets were out of commission due to vandalism. (17/11/25) it is a about 100m off the main road, so there is some road noise. Have your bug screens ready. You also need to be gone by 9am.
North Island ▷ Bay of Plenty ▷ Whakatane ▷
Took me a sec to find it.
Its right next to the Vacuum, by the car wash. There is no official potable water bit there is a tap a few meters away, if you have all the connections then your good to go.
North Island ▷ Tairāwhiti Gisborne ▷ Gisborne ▷
Not really accessible for a bus, but my camper was fine.
Excellent facilities. Cleanest and easiest one to use since ive been traveling. Also has potable water. Please leave a donation.
North Island ▷ Tairāwhiti Gisborne ▷ Mahia ▷
I really enjoyed this spot.
All along the water front there are mulitpul spots allocated for campers. Each spot holds 2-3 campers, and have your own private walkway to the beach..wonderfull views. The only downside is your parked right off the road, but the noise didn't bother me
North Island ▷ Tairāwhiti Gisborne ▷ Gisborne ▷
Good spot to park for the night.
Great view of the beach. This is a busy spot for the beach going locals.
South Island ▷ Central Otago ▷ Cromwell ▷
Great place to dump the old water, and in with the new.
You need to use your own hose. Good location.
South Island ▷ Queenstown Region ▷ Kingston ▷
Great lake side views.
Gorgeous spot. There are toilets. It was busy when i stayed. Level ground is scarce. All round great spot
South Island ▷ Southland ▷ Gore ▷
Great Spot.
No reception. Was a great place to get away to for a few days. Grass can be a bit foggy if its wet.
South Island ▷ Southland ▷ Bluff ▷
Lovely spot to explore the area.
Unfortunatly when I was there, we had red wind warnings, bit we we managed to park the truck behind some scrub. Plenty of space. Grass was firm despite all the rain.
South Island ▷ Central Otago ▷ Clyde ▷
This was such a lovely spot.
Big enough for a large camber or bus. The lake side views are fantastic. Full cell phone reception. No toilet facilities, so SC Vehicles only. Perfect for a well behaved Pup. Very quiet and dark at night. Just great
South Island ▷ Canterbury ▷ Timaru ▷
Absolutly loved this spot.
It was quiet, far from the road. Well maintained. New toilet facility. Next to a beautiful river. Minimal reception. Enough for messages and YouTube. Not enough for calls.
South Island ▷ Canterbury ▷ Timaru ▷
There really isn't anything there.
Its a small area to park. I wouldn't reccomend for anything the size of a coaster.
It was incredibly quiet and peaceful. There is a wonderful walking track loop (4km) which takes about an hour.
South Island ▷ Canterbury ▷ Geraldine ▷
Very large grass area.
I was here alone. Perfect place for a well behaved dog. Zero reception. Some road noise, but overall very peaceful. The toilet is a bit worse for wear, so I would reccomend for self contained vehicles.
South Island ▷ Canterbury ▷ Geraldine ▷
Was a good place to park for one night.
Fairly quiet considering its close to a road. Enough reception to watch YouTube and send messages. Not quite enough for a phone call.
