Henley Lake is situated just off the highway but is very quiet with excellent facilities. It provides freedom camping for self contained vehicles in a great setting, close to the city. Note you must park on the sealed area. The toilets are closed at night.

Awesome amenities, hot shower (too hot for me actually) with a button that only gives you 10 secs of water time, but you can hold it down or keep pressing it endlessly. Main toilet/shower locked in night but disabled toilets left open. About 1000 geese, ducks and swans around so be prepared for friends at the slightest rustle of a bread bag. Bird poop everywhere, but an awesome lakeside spot, heaps of carparking and room for busses, vans, campers, caravans. Even a tape by the little Riverway for filling containers. 10 min bike ride to New World/Town. Can see a public BBQ 5 mins walk away, lots of tree shade cover and 'private' parking, staggered parks.
Locals have a few regular campers here with dogs and cats but are harmless and friendly. Seen a few cats and dogs in campers. Awesome spot.

Often stay when we have appointments etc. Lately seems to be taken over by dope smoking homeless. A real pity because a well kept vacility the town should be proud of.

Amazing facilities and area for all campers. Beautiful hot showers and bright clean facilities. A camper- friendly council! I had a great day in Masterton and then found this place. Lovely lake view and plenty of space. Even dogs are allowed!

Was going to stay there but it appears to have been taken over by a few permanents. Didnt really feel safe so left.
Each camping location is approved by a regional council in NZ. So if it shows on the map, you’re allowed to stay.

Sweet place to camp toilets are now renovated and clean with a free hot shower and a 24 hour toilet and shower on the end of public bathrooms . Lovely place to stay . But Friday and Saturday nights can be a bit noisey due to a few boy racers but this is a sometimes thing. However Monday through to Thursday we have not had problems . Dog friendly and the walks are amazing a must stay. U can’t swim in lake .

Free showers, clean bathroom, nice view, there’s not much else you can ask for. The toilet facilities weren’t locked at night and must be new because there was no door to the men or women’s restroom.

Really nice spot! In a carpark with a beautiful big pond, public toilets even with a free shower. The toilets close at night but the family/disabled toilet stayed opened all night. Lots and lots of swans/ducks/geese (scary). Really nice in spring to see all the baby animals
