Easy access Freedom Camping in the Wairarapa.

Henley Lake is situated just off the highway but is very quiet with excellent facilities. It provides freedom camping for self contained vehicles in a great setting, close to the city. Note you must park on the sealed area. The toilets are closed at night.

Quiet campsite next to a pretty lake. Not too close to busy roads. Lots of geese and ducks in the morning! Toilets in the car park, however they close at night so make sure you give yourself plenty of time to go. Sign states the time the toilets will close. No dump station

What a loverly place, would have give 10 but for the locals driving in and out into the early hours. Maybe a good spot to stop for lunch and a walk around the lake, toilet are average.

29Sept18. Stopped here for lunch and had a walk round the lake. A great little place. A few parking spots long enough for our 7.7m motor home.
Toilets ok.
Would have done an overnight if it fitted in with our plans. Have bookmarked for our next trip.

Beautiful spot on the lake front, very quiet and peaceful. We had only one other fellow camper to share with.
This carpark may be a bit of a boy racer area on the weekends - we had a few show up before midnight but were quiet enough and left after sitting with their lights shining at each other for about half an hour.

Very pleasant place to watch walkers, kayakers, paddlers, dog people and aquatic birds. A good walk although watch for bird droppings. By contrast the dog people are told to do the right thing and they appear to be doing just that. Clean toilets but closed at night.

Very picturesque. Swans and ducks on the water and rowing and dragon boat training going on while we were there. Park in second carpark beyond the rowing shed, as locals come and go at all daylight hours running, cycling and walking dogs. It will be quieter for you then.
