Christchurch Tasman Holiday Parks
More expensive than other Parks but it also has more facilities than many others.
Didn't get to try the pool as it was out of commission but looked like it would be good fun for the kids. Nice heated bathrooms, clean and tidy. Good kitchen facilities.Easy access to the airport is a bonus and in easy walking distance of major shopping centre. Would certainly stay there again.

For a first helicopter flight this was really enjoyable.
Friendly professional staff, stunning views and great photos. I got the flights for half price and would not have paid full price for this experience but it was once in a lifetime.

Good value for money and close to Lake Matheson if you want to photograph those lovely lake reflections early in the morning.

An awesome place to visit...something really different from the usual.
Would love to have taken the kids - they would have had a blast. Easily spent a couple of hours there, very good value for money. Awesome toilet seats!

Didn't really enjoy staying here, not sure why.
The staff weren't exactly friendly and there was an extra charge for showers. The kitchen facilities were pretty cramped but it was clean enough. Probably wouldn't go back. Lacked atmosphere.

Glentanner Park
Nice and close to Mt Cook, very friendly and helpful staff.
Powered sites are surrounded by trees and nice and private...more spacious than other parks. Shower facilities are basic but adequate - and at least they are free unlike other places. Lots of students staying but didn't see anything of them. Highlight of the stay was the visitor we had in the morning ...I'm assuming he was a pheasant...very tame and friendly....a pleasant surprise.

The Antarctic Attraction
Something a bit different.
Probably wouldn't have gone if not on holiday...a little pricey. Didn't see the penguin feeding as they had a problem with it. Haglund ride not for the faint hearted...it's a pretty rough ride...surprisingly so. Enjoyed the 4d movie and the staff were friendly and helpful. Good place to take the kids. Cannot recommend the cafeteria. They reheat their food in a microwave....and not for long enough.

Very basic, out of the way camping.
We had the place to ourselves. A long drive, a lot of gravel...not for those who like the better comforts...but very peaceful.

Lake Mahinapua Campsite
Stayed one night here...nice and peaceful.
Lake is beautiful on a still morning...no problem with sandflies or mozzies. Clean facilities and quite sheltered.

A beautiful boat and a wonderful way to spend a couple of hours.
Lots of stunning photos to be taken on the journey and a different view of Queenstown. Excellent value for money.

Glacier Explorers
Really well organised trip and although you could walk to the glacier yourself and see it from a distance the guides on this trip made it super enjoyable and being able to get on the water and touch the
icebergs was a treat. Wonderful photo opportunities and well worth the money.

Jacksons Retreat Campervan Holiday Park
One of the best value parks we stayed out during our trip, lovely setting (weather was horrible so didn't get to do the bush walk), reasonable price, very clean bathrooms and a really nice lounge area
. Very friendly, helpful staff. A great place to base yourself for travelling around the Arthurs Pass area. Keen to visit again.

Air Force Museum Christchurch
Cannot rate this museum highly enough.
For one thing it was free (although you can pay for additional tours), the staff are really friendly and informative, the displays are excellent and you can photograph them all. There is also a cafeteria on site (did not try it though). A great way to spend a couple of hours. A brilliant collection of planes.

10/10 for the beautiful lake views in the morning and great photo opportunities but the facilities are very dated in comparison to many other places you could stay.
Surprised to be charged extra for showers but it was the cheapest place we stayed.

Hamilton Gardens
Hamilton Gardens are a unique experience in New Zealand with many themed gardens and a stunning Maori garden just recently completed.
Need a couple of hours minimum to do them justice with a break for an ice cream in the middle.A must see if in Hamilton regardless of the time of year.

Lots more to see here now with much reconstruction going on.
Excellent guides who really know their stuff. My only recommendation would be to rewatch the first movie before you do the tour so it's all fresh in your mind. Great value for money if you are an LOTR fan.

Only a short walk over the dunes to get to the beach but don't forget to check the tides before you go...much less crowded than hot water beach at Coromandel.
Don't wear your good clothes they may always smell of sulphur afterwards!

While this is totally out of the way and a bit of a drive the seals are just adorable to watch and the place was deserted when we were there...stunning beaches.
