We arrived after much confusion to find the area completely fenced off with contractor vehicles all over it. Not a place to camp right now.

A nice enough stop for the night by the boat ramp with a toilet close by. Arrive after 5.30 on weekdays as construction work next door. Plenty of room and shade and quiet night. Check out the fishies and crab from the jetty.

Nice grassy area. Had the whole place to ourselves on a Saturday. Propably wouldn't recommend coming during the week though as there is a big housing development going on right next door. Could get quite noisy with all the diggers that we're parked up there when we stayed.
Each camping location is approved by a regional council in NZ. So if it shows on the map, you’re allowed to stay.

Beautiful spot in a large flat area by the boat ramp. Toilets are a 100m or so away and there are some benches to sit on as well

Nice grass parking area though can only fit about 6 camper vans. Large area with boat ramp facilities so most of the space is used as boat trailer parking. Clean toilet with no lighting need a touch. All freedom campers were also given local council rubbish bags and info on the area which was very helpful.

Popular area with lots of boat owners, but they all park in the carpark away from camp site. Lovely spot near the water and the wharf was popular with people jumping off and swimming. Only self contained vehicles allowed to stay the night, NO Tents. A lady came around to check and turned out to be really helpful and friendly. There was only about 5-6 designated spots which were all taken, but ‘Liz’ allowed us to stay just outside of boundary and gave some local information brochures and a rubbish bag for our use.

Lovely... Until the idiot with the extremely LOUD motorbike turned up & round &around the paddock next door. Must have a small penis,!😂 Otherwise a lovely spot.

This place was beautiful and quiet. The locals were friendly. A lovely spot for the night to get away and enjoy the beach and sea.

A limited area within a large parking facility mainly for boat owners.
Very peaceful with great views, a 10 to 15 minute walk to an area with shops, cafe and bar.
The boat launching activity started early but not too intrusive.

Great campsite by the water, basic toilets but clean.
Only space for 6/7 campers though, so when we arrived at about 5pm it was almost full. A warden came around and said we needed to be within the two signs and if we could squeeze our front end into a small gap she’d let us stay, but after she’d left loads of other vans turned up and just parked anywhere which is a shame as it’s not in the spirit of responsible camping.

Very calm parking area in the middle of the nature, clean toilets, one of the best of our trip. Free ! Few camping tables facing the water and the mountains, beautiful sunset.
