  • Really great freedom camping spot only 6 kms from SH 1.

Beautiful grassy area with lots of trees. No signs to say where to park though. Adequate flush toilets and an amazing summer house space to relax in. Donations requested and should be paid as it’s an awesome spot. 2 km bush walk with both native and introduced species was an added bonus. So many tuis, just fabulous.

  • Lovely place in the countryside.

Gravel area for campervans and plenty of grass space for tents. The summerhouse is the cherry on the cake with kettle, microwave oven and sink with cold water. Also power supply for recharging phone/tablet and a big table to plan your trip ;) picnic tables all over the place. Ducks and rabbits will be your friends. One of local top 10 loop walk in the Reserve, we didn’t do it but many locals stopped by to walk/run it. Only downside it’s close to the road where cars drive quite fast making it noisy, fortunately not many cars passing by.

Do not forget to make a DONATION.

  • Great stopover on our journey from Palmerston North to Tauranga with our new caravan.

Easy accessibility and turning area. Clean and neat with lovely gardens. Woke up to lots of birds singing and even rabbits hopping about. No light in toilet but facilities clean with wash basin. Did the Bush Walk in the morning which was an added bonus. Highly recommended.

Public toilets, small kitchen with basic equipment, playground for kids and a lot of space for campervans. We donated 5$ and did the bush walk in the morning. Great experience and we would love to come again!

  • We arrived at Mt Lees Reserve mid-afternoon and walked the beautiful and peaceful rainforest track.

Along the way we were delighted to meet up with the Owner/Manager Graham who was doing his regular jog around the track, and we felt very privileged that he stopped his exercise to chat with us and give us a little history about the reserve.

The camp area was very neat and tidy and we were one of four motorhomes quietly camped there for the night. The toilet facilities were also very clean and tidy.
