Welcome to New Zealand's most comprehensive database of freely available camping information. This is the only travel map of its kind in NZ.
Campers must walk 200m to the campsite from the roadend carpark. Four wheel drive vehicle owners may apply to the DOC Manawatu Rangitikei Area Office for a key to allow vehicle access to the campsite.
A small creek must be crossed to get to campsite, this may flood after very heavy rain making crossing impossible.
From State Highway 2 south of Dannevirke, turn into Laws Rd. Turn right onto Top Grass Road, then turn left onto Tamaki West Road and follow this until you reach the carpark at the Ruahine Forest Park Boundary.
Day walks and multi day walks (if you plan ahead and are well prepared) are achievable using the tracks and huts in the area.
