A lovely open space right beside the beach. Lots of locals coming and going, but quite quiet. A local store just a short walk away. Toilets with limited water supply. Lovely safe beach.

We arrived in the dark as we had been to the sunset bar and sports club for dinner which I would high recommend very friendly and great food. The campsite was right on the waters edge toilets very clean and tidy. A bit of history there to read about

Lovely spot on a Sandy Beach, popular with locals. Views of the Mahia Peninsula. We were able to park on the sand facing the beach and right near the bathrooms. Change rooms also available. Drinking water on site. Huge lot that could easily fit 20 campers. A bit windy and the bugs were bad at night. Beware, lots of people were getting their vehicles stuck in the sand and needed to be pushed or towed out. Pick your spot wisely

Great spot! Flush toilets, easy to find and a lot of space. It got really windy though. Awesome view in the morning.

Another great location provided by the Wairoa DC. Plently of flat sites with views out into the bay. There is a toilet block with a cold water shower on site. The beach is flat and sandy and good for swimming, and Mussels can be collected off the rocks at low tide. The only downside during our stay was the bay and beach was covered in masses of smelly decaying sea weed including rubbish, such as old cans plastic bags and bottles.

One of the best views we had so far! Next to the beach, awesome views. Toilets are basic, but that doesn't really bother us. During Christmas period almost full, 9 out of 10 campers.

Nice spot near a great beach. Seaweed etc seems to collect in the first 100 metres of the beach, but beyond is great. Basic toilet block is the only facility, but its free. We spent some time at the other end of the beach where holiday homes and the commercially run campground were, and retreated back here. Only problems were the high proportion of bogans .... but we were there on December 30/31

Nice grassy park up spot, right next to Opoutama beach. Handy to all the good things that Mahia is renowned for. Location is great, but unfortunately there was a fair bit of rubbish about. Worth a look all the same.
