Very nice DOC info centre, with a small but very interesting museum, as well as lots of info brochures. What we indeed like the most was the friendliness of the staff, we needed some pieces of information and the DOC employed woman efficiently provided us with all the details we looked for, always with a big smile on her face!
All the information you need to know before going North or South. There is an exhibition attached to the information centre with many facts, videos, pictures, stories about the history of South West NZ.
Save up to 70% on campsite fees! Support conservation and experience the natural beauty of NZ. 78 Department of Conservation campsites, one convenient pass.
Friendly etc, but would not give the information we wanted to have, that is: pathways, altitudes of these, experiences with these etc. But always eager to help with topo map support.
Rather unfriendly staff but nice things to view.
Access savings worth hundreds of $$ on Top Ranked NZ Accommodation and Activities for just $1 per day.
Had all of the leaflets available but staff involved in a chat in the middle of site which I did not want to interrupt to get assistance and information on Fox and Franz Josef tours.
Glyn and Karen Farlow
Staff only answered questions asked, did not offer information freely, eg questions/answers when coaxed.
Large facility with modern interior. 1990s architecture, large visitor/interactive display which was unfortunately dated and felt old. Local school children had poems and artwork on display which demonstrated good connectivity with youth and local community groups.
A lot of detailed tracks, people really helpful and know what they talk about.
All information centres we have visited we very good with information about the environment. Staff everywhere are very friendly and helpful.
Best thing about Haast!
