A bit crowded and very narrow, but quiet compared to the rest of Kaikoura, clean facilities, the kids loved the pool and the hot tub.

Great place to stay right next to Lake Ellesmere, really big camp ground so you should have always enough space, but very basic toilets, only mobile Port-A-Loos available, no water.
We still loved this place, highly recommended.

Not very much, just a small strip of gras next to the road, but right next to Akaroa Harbour.
Clean toilets and most of all a dumping station for camper vans.

Small, but absolutely beautiful, has everything you need, water, toilet, direct beach access, great swimming.

Strange rules and regulations.
We had to park the campervan very close together, although all the grass area was empty. Lot's of discussions with the locals, we were not allowed to use a hammock. Stinky long drop toilet and ONLY for self contained camper vans, as they have changed the rules again. Didn't feel welcome at all, we left after one night.

One of the best spots of the entire country.
Make sure you go to the upper left side of the camp ground to have a good view over the bay. Look out for some dolphins in the evening. A truly magical place!

Basic camp with only one long drop toilet but very beautiful spot with direct access to the lake and great views.
A perfect spot if you are self contained and want a free place to stay near Taupo. We only stayed for one night but we can recommend this place.

Nice little camp ground with toilets, no direct sea view but very quiet, free and clean stayed there in December for 2 nights, perfect starting point for Cape Kidnappers.

Great walk along the beach to the Gannet colony, highly recommended although it is a 2.5 hour walk!
DO NOT use the tractor service, walk all the way for yourself and you will be rewarded with beautiful views of the cliffs.
Always watch the tides, it's a long way to swim back!!!

Perfect spot to stay overnight and to avoid to overpriced camping grounds in this area.
It is only a parking lot, but is is very quiet during the night and it has a breathtaking view in the morning over the sea and all the little islands.

The first of 8 DOC camps in the Kauaeranga Valley, highly recommended if you don't want to drive to long on the gravel road.
Nice little camp next to a little creek, long drop toilets only, but very clean. Nature walks all around you. We stayed in November for one night, very quiet and peaceful, but lot's of mosquitoes.

Very expensive, but right in the middle if town.
Good facilities, very tidy and clean. We like the free hot pools at the camp ground.
We also have free WiFi on offer as well. Thanks for taking the time to make a review as it is appreciated.
Thanks

Nice little camp right on the Lake Shore, long drop toilets only but okay.
Some nice walks around the lake, you can hear the road noise from the other side of the lake, but it's not that bad.
Lot's of friendly sheep not scared of humans at all. Paradise on earth if you like sheep, as they are all around you, and you can watch them all day long.
Meeeeh!!!

You can't get it any better!
Beautiful beach with nice Pohutukawas, typical DOC facilities with clean, not smelly long drop toilets and cold showers only.
But that doesn't matter because you get the most beautiful cost just in front. Take some time and walk over the hill to the next bay. Look out for some Rosalies (parrots)!

We have been on the road in NZ for more than 2 years and this DOC camp is one of the best places of the entire country.
Best sea view camp we have ever seen!!!
Come in December before Christmas when the Pohutukawas are flowering and all the trees are fire red. Don't come around Christmas like everybody else.

Small but beautiful DOC camp with long drop toilets.
There are 8 DOC camps in the Kauaeranga Valley, when you come here, make sure you find the right camp for you. We were here in late November and some of the DOC camps in Kauaeranga Valley had large groups of noisy teenagers. Beautiful nature walks, highly recommended!
