Went up the steep shorter route and down the much longer 'back' way.
Breathtaking views at the top and on the way down. Strongly advise doing this way round!

Great walk, not too taxing.
Several 'suspension' bridges to cross but nothing too challenging. Strong footwear a must if strained ankles are to be avoided.

Blessed with a crystal clear night and no moon, plus two knowledgable hosts.
Quite pricey but a great way to pick up some astro information.

Great information display of mountaineering at Mount Cook, helpful staff with advice on suitable walks for the time we had available.

Great location on the lakeside.
We had a powered site with views across the lake. Good showers/loos.

Day cruise on Doubtful Sound.
Picked up at campsite, great boat trips (Manapouri, Lake and Doubtful Sound) and powerstation visit. Well run and good value.

Very helpful staff - arranged our cruise on Doubtful Sound and organised a campsite booking for two nights, pointing out the pluses of each site.

Small, family run site.
Basic facilities but clean. Fine for a one night stay on the way to Fiordland. No views but quiet and well located.
