Researching campervan hire in New Zealand proved to be a nightmare until I found Euro Campers.
We needed something simple to see New Zealand over 15 days and did not want ridiculous bonds held on credit cards like all the big name companies (You'll only discover it in the fine print).

Euro campers have no hidden secrets!! Everything is clearly outlined from the beginning and were prompt to answer questions, quotes and organise logistics for arrival and departure.

We hired a 2 berth Eco sleeper starting in Auckland and ending in Christchurch, pick up and drop off was courtesy of Euro campers and were very accomodating with our schedule.

A road trip is not complete without your own music from your phone, a bit of Internet and a reliable GPS. All of this plus more was included in the media pack. (We paid $50 for 3g of Vodaphone internet this lasted us 2 weeks combined with free hotspots etc)

Being in a self contained sleeper meant we could stay pretty much where ever we wanted, we used the Rankers App to locate free and cost effective places to stay and used the reviews to decide if one place was better than others. We did not get cold in the van, even though it was winter.

Definitely don't skip past Euro Campers if you're looking for a reliable and friendly team to help
Make your trip to New Zealand a success!

Euro Campers responds:

Hi Lara,

Thank you so much for your kind feedback.
It is very important to us that you have all the equipment you need for a roadtrip already in your camper and don't need to stop at any shop to buy all the stuff.
We are really happy to hear that you enjoyed your trip. Hopefully we will see you again when you are keen for another NZ trip.

Best wishes,
Euro Campers

We hired an older vehicle for 10 weeks from the beginning of Oct 2018. It was very battered inside and out and, although reasonably clean in the main accommodation area, there was quite a lot of dust and grime in the corners and at the edges. However, it was mechanically sound and never let us down at any point during our trip. We had problems with the cooker from the outset, which eventually necessitated quite a long detour into the Christchurch depot to have it repaired. We weren't offered any compensation for the cost and loss of our time, but neither did we ask for any - perhaps we should have! In addition, the heater broke half way through our trip and we had to buy another one and have the money reimbursed at the end. Whenever we phoned the depot about these problems the initial response was not very helpful and we found ourselves having to be quite assertive to get a positive result. The check in and check out procedures left a lot to be desired. On both occasions the person dealing with us seemed to lose interest when another customer arrived. This was more of an issue checking in because it prevented us from inspecting the van as fully as we would have liked to, including checking whether everything was working. Had we been able to we would have discovered the problem with the cooker before we left and saved ourselves a lot of time and inconvenience. It was less of a problem when we checked out other than being left with the bad feeling of being treated discourteously after having spent a considerable amount of money with the company. This company could definitely do better by improving their standards of customer care and paying greater attention to detail to ensure vehicles are properly cleaned and fully functioning prior to being handed over to customers.

We rented with Huron, which is the brand of Euro which rents the „older“ camper vehicles formerly rented by Euro Campters. Considering, that we were renting a (I believe) 2015 campter van we were satisfied. There were a number of shortcomings. At return, Huron offered compensation, but we declined, sind these were not as important to impair our journey. The only thing I have to critisize: Since the provided NZ mobile phone did not work we tried to communicate with the statt via email. However, we did not receive a reaction on our mails. Later, Huron asked us to buy a new mobile phone contract (unfortunately, the phone was locked to Vodafone, which I did not know, when I bought 2degrees) and reimbursed us the costs.

Very poor service. I would not recommend EuroCampers. Should have paid more attention to the previous poor reviews from Eurocampers.

We booked a 2+1 Berth Euro Hitop for a 3 week period. We were given a very poor quality vehicle (loads of bumps and marks on body work) with loads of broken equipment and we had several problems during our trip. We contacted EuroCampers several times to complaint and to request a replacement vehicle but this was denied. We were told that as long as the van was drivable, no replacements would be given (despite having an engine warning light on since the beginning of our trip).

Several parts were broken from the start, including gas hob, cooking pot, portable heater, inside light, water hose, and many others. The smoke detector was also not working. The van was also dirty when we picked it up with the waste tank not emptied (terrible smell when this was opened before we even left the depot).

We lost a lot of time in our trip making long detours to get things fixed and finding shops to get replacements. This created a lot of disruptions to our trip which negatively affected our experience and our travels.

Instead of finding an acceptable solution, EuroCampers tried to find excuses for all the problems and then provided contradictory and even false information. After a lot of complaints Eurocampers decided that a $100 NZD compensation was adequate, which is completely unacceptable for all the problems we had and time lost. Luckily we kept records for all the issues we had and will now proceed with further action.

We just finished a 3 week holiday with Euro Campers in the Euro Twin. We covered most of the North and South Island and had a wonderful time. Our motorhome was well maintained and the staff were friendly and gave us great recommendations.

Thank you for looking after us so well.

Hi Nick, Just finished two weeks of driving around the lovely south island on NZ. 3,500 kilometers of absolute pleasure, the weather was fantastic which made it all the better. The Euro Camper we had did not miss a beat, a comfortable well organised van, with all we needed. Great kitchen set up for easy meal preparation and we could sit inside in comfort when cold. The LPG stove made it easy to have the daily early morning cuppa and the fridge for food storage, and the obligatory end of day drinks.
Thank you

Thank you from all of us at Euro Campers. Sounds like the Euro Familia 5 proved a perfect all round vehicle - and additionally pleased you were able to unwind at the end of the day for your 'obligatory' end of day drinks!

We look forward to your next visit to NZ.

Nothing to add except : go rent at Euro Campers, it is the best thing to do to enjoy New Zealand and avoid problems.

Thanks again to Lena who welcomed us at Christchurch and explained everthing perfectly!

Everything about the camper we loved , it was our first time in a camper so very novice. But the staff explained how the camper works top to bottom and felt very confident leaving the branch. Only thing would change is the season we travelled in. Thank you for everything and keep up the good work. Jeff & Sarah.

Hi Jeff,

Sometimes we just cant get the weather right! - But we did have a milder winter. I must say that the landscape is amazing at that time of year, so I am sure you got some great photos.

Travelling by motorhome is such a good experience, and especially loved hearing how often you stopped to take breaks and just go off the beaten track. Its great not to rush to be somewhere!

All the best Jeff,

This was our first road trip using campervan, and we are very fortunate to have Eurocampers as our provider. Everything was explained and written clearly plus they were willing to answer all our questions.
We are a family of 5 and we hire the biggest campervan, i.e. Familia 5. The campervan served us magnificently. No problems at all. We don't use all the beds, only 2 of them. All amenities were provided and they generously provide extra blanket and dona to combat cold weather, considering our trip was in the middle of winter season (july 2018). It was proven that the diesel heater was our life safer. Two thumbs up for this.
We had reasonable price for our campervan and no hidden charges!
Keep up the good service guys! Thank you and all the best for your team.

Kind regards,
Ari

We had a wonderful time with Eurocampers and New Zealand. We had a little issue with the battery, but staff where friendly and knew what need to be done to fix the battery. Neat, clean and well looked after campers (we had 2). Booking, picking up and dropping the campers off was fast easy and staff made us feel welcome and that our holiday needs was considered. Overall- great experience.
