Researching campervan hire in New Zealand proved to be a nightmare until I found Euro Campers.
We needed something simple to see New Zealand over 15 days and did not want ridiculous bonds held on credit cards like all the big name companies (You'll only discover it in the fine print).

Euro campers have no hidden secrets!! Everything is clearly outlined from the beginning and were prompt to answer questions, quotes and organise logistics for arrival and departure.

We hired a 2 berth Eco sleeper starting in Auckland and ending in Christchurch, pick up and drop off was courtesy of Euro campers and were very accomodating with our schedule.

A road trip is not complete without your own music from your phone, a bit of Internet and a reliable GPS. All of this plus more was included in the media pack. (We paid $50 for 3g of Vodaphone internet this lasted us 2 weeks combined with free hotspots etc)

Being in a self contained sleeper meant we could stay pretty much where ever we wanted, we used the Rankers App to locate free and cost effective places to stay and used the reviews to decide if one place was better than others. We did not get cold in the van, even though it was winter.

Definitely don't skip past Euro Campers if you're looking for a reliable and friendly team to help
Make your trip to New Zealand a success!

Euro Campers responds:

Hi Lara,

Thank you so much for your kind feedback.
It is very important to us that you have all the equipment you need for a roadtrip already in your camper and don't need to stop at any shop to buy all the stuff.
We are really happy to hear that you enjoyed your trip. Hopefully we will see you again when you are keen for another NZ trip.

Best wishes,
Euro Campers

We toured the South Island for two weeks in February 2019. We rented the toyota hiace from Euro Campers. The employees were polite and helpful and the van was fairly new, clean, and ran well. We were thoroughly happy with our experience with Euro Campers and would rent from them again.

We selected Euro Campers for being the most affordable, but mainly for being a local owned and operated company.
The camper had a lot of experience (432k km!), but was clean, mechanically sound and comfortable. The only problem was the “oil light” that kept coming and going from overfilled.
Karolina was very helpful and convincing during the booking process. We loved the experience!!!

We had the king sleeper for our 9 day trip. The service from Euro campers was top notch. Their communication was friendly, prompt, accurate, and direct. Picking up and dropping off the van was easy, we didn't have any mechanical problems. My only criticism is on the layout of the van. It was hard to access stored items if the bed was made. There was a lot of space in the benches, just frustrating to get your clothes first thing in the morning. It would also be helpful to have a few hooks in the van to hang damp clothes and a place to secure things like dish soap on the bench. I would recommend to a friend, maybe just a different model if it was any longer than 1 week.

We have rented a sleeper van from Euro Campers for 5 weeks and overall, we were happy with our selection. The Rankers website was extremely helpful in getting information about the different rental options. We highly recommend using their service. Communication with Euro Campers was excellent and efficient. We had some minor issues with our sleeper van, which were sorted out quickly with the help from Euro Campers. We would definitely rent again from them. Besides the Rankers app, we found the CamperMate app extremely helpful to find appropriate camp sites. New Zealand is a wonderful place to be! Explore it!

My husband and I rented a Toyota Regius Ace (Kingsleeper) from Eurocampers for 5 weeks over Christmas & New Year and we were completely disappointed!

Why?
- The storage space is really narrow. We almost couldn't fit our luggage into it. Fortunately, we didn't bring a suitcase, but only travel bags.

- No connection for power supply in the camper. Most of the campers in that size actually have a connection, but Eurocampers just didn't think it through. So some things you can charge through the cigarette lighter in the van, when driving, but camera batteries f.ex. not...so you have to find other solutions.

- Too small camper for people with 1,80m: you cannot sit upright in the camper

- The cooling box was quite old and drew more volt than the cigarette lighter offered. So, our fuse melted twice and also our cable for the cigarette lighter melted.

- The tyres didn't have any profile left on them. So we got stuck in some gravel. We called AA, who told us that Eurocampers is not in the AA anymore. So they could only give us a number from someone who could pull us out, but we had to pay him 200 Dollars in cash. There was no refund from Eurocampers, because apparently the tyres were still fine (even without any profile)!

- Shortly before New Year's Eve, our water tank broke, so we had to spent New Year's Eve at a workshop for 4 hours. The guy told us that there was a kink in the hose, so that's why the water or air couldn't get out fast enough and there was too much pressure on the tank, so it broke. He said, the way that everything was built in was very unprofessional and that it's no wonder it broke.

Conclusion: Worst camper and worst service! No refund or apology for all our troubles and the time we lost fixing things in the camper. Really sad, Eurocampers!

We have had brilliant service start till finish. From the first initial email the customer service has been extremely pleasant. We had a brilliant road trip with no issues, the pick up was easy and the drop off was also an easy, swift process. We had a fantastic holiday and this was in a large part, down to the excellent homely camper we had. The Euro twin.
Thanks.

We hired an older vehicle for 10 weeks from the beginning of Oct 2018. It was very battered inside and out and, although reasonably clean in the main accommodation area, there was quite a lot of dust and grime in the corners and at the edges. However, it was mechanically sound and never let us down at any point during our trip. We had problems with the cooker from the outset, which eventually necessitated quite a long detour into the Christchurch depot to have it repaired. We weren't offered any compensation for the cost and loss of our time, but neither did we ask for any - perhaps we should have! In addition, the heater broke half way through our trip and we had to buy another one and have the money reimbursed at the end. Whenever we phoned the depot about these problems the initial response was not very helpful and we found ourselves having to be quite assertive to get a positive result. The check in and check out procedures left a lot to be desired. On both occasions the person dealing with us seemed to lose interest when another customer arrived. This was more of an issue checking in because it prevented us from inspecting the van as fully as we would have liked to, including checking whether everything was working. Had we been able to we would have discovered the problem with the cooker before we left and saved ourselves a lot of time and inconvenience. It was less of a problem when we checked out other than being left with the bad feeling of being treated discourteously after having spent a considerable amount of money with the company. This company could definitely do better by improving their standards of customer care and paying greater attention to detail to ensure vehicles are properly cleaned and fully functioning prior to being handed over to customers.

Very poor service. I would not recommend EuroCampers. Should have paid more attention to the previous poor reviews from Eurocampers.

We booked a 2+1 Berth Euro Hitop for a 3 week period. We were given a very poor quality vehicle (loads of bumps and marks on body work) with loads of broken equipment and we had several problems during our trip. We contacted EuroCampers several times to complaint and to request a replacement vehicle but this was denied. We were told that as long as the van was drivable, no replacements would be given (despite having an engine warning light on since the beginning of our trip).

Several parts were broken from the start, including gas hob, cooking pot, portable heater, inside light, water hose, and many others. The smoke detector was also not working. The van was also dirty when we picked it up with the waste tank not emptied (terrible smell when this was opened before we even left the depot).

We lost a lot of time in our trip making long detours to get things fixed and finding shops to get replacements. This created a lot of disruptions to our trip which negatively affected our experience and our travels.

Instead of finding an acceptable solution, EuroCampers tried to find excuses for all the problems and then provided contradictory and even false information. After a lot of complaints Eurocampers decided that a $100 NZD compensation was adequate, which is completely unacceptable for all the problems we had and time lost. Luckily we kept records for all the issues we had and will now proceed with further action.
