The Waikari Reserve Camping Ground is administered by the Waikari Reserves Committee and it is cool! It is found just on Princes Street, Waikari.
It is fairly small with slightly old facilities, but very clean and a wicked score for the price you pay for it. It's a Sport Billy's paradise with netball courts and tennis courts across the way from a massive field. Awesome for families.
Please contact the camp custodian to pay your fees (their details are on the gate as you come in to the site). Money for this site goes straight back into maintaining the facilities.…

What was once a ‘camping area’ is now a ‘caravan park’. In the space of a year most of the power sites are taken by permanents who also have cars. What does this mean? You’re basically packed in like sardines! I won’t be surprised if all the sites get taken by permanents. This is a perfect example of Profit winning over preservation. It’s a real pity as it used to be a quaint little spot to tie you over for a night or two. Now it’s just a cheap caravan park to the locals. Pity!

Lovely wee campsite, a real gem. Very friendly welcome, super clean facilities, modest cost $20 for 2. The shower costs an additional $2 and was well worth it; great pressure, scrupulously clean, lovely warm room. I highly recommend this site.

Excellent little campsite which Don & Karen took over the custodianship about 2 months ago. Yes, it is quite old, but they are really looking after it well and nothing is too much trouble. They really care about this place and it is spotless. $10 per person for a power site, $2 for the shower. Great value.
Great walk along the disused railway line.
Great place for kids or sporty types as play park, tennis court and big playing field.

Price was $10 per person for a powered site.... had all the basic utilities but didn't manage to use any of them as arrived late at night but otherwise an okay ground for me.
Old camp ground with either very muddy or very hard ground. Ridiculously noisy overnight with cows, dogs barking all night, and roosters in the morning. Might have been a particularly bad night, but certainly memorable for all the wrong reasons.
Good place, nothing special! $2 shower and $10 per person.
Hard to beat camp site for the price. Considering the availability of hot water and other facilities. Kitchen was a nice size and most utensils were provided, just clean up after yourself and wash the dishes when you're done. Not the most scenic area but when you need a place to rest your head with a $2 hot shower just a stones throw away, a great place to stay.
