The Puponga Hilltop Walk links many of the tracks described here. The walk begins near Puponga Visitor Centre and wanders along the ridge to the barren lands of Old Man Range. It then descends via Pillar Point Lighthouse to the cliff tops of Cape Farewell and follows these along until it winds down to Wharariki Beach. At half-tide or lower, you can walk along the beach and up to the Puponga Farm Park Track. Otherwise, cross Wharariki farm to the carpark. Allow 2-3 hours from the visitor centre to Wharariki, and another 2-3 hours for the full trip to Green Hill and back to Wharariki carpark. To save a long return walk, ask at the visitor centre if a shuttle bus is available from where you finish.

It goes over green grass to the top of mountains. They are not too big so do not worry, you will enjoy it! You have an amazing view over the most northern point of the South Island!
Beautiful view, but not a good track, more track marks would be good.

Very hard walk. There are many different routes. We took the one from the Visitor Centre to Wharariki Beach. 10km in 6 hours. Extremely uphill but it is worth. Amazing nature and scenery.

Nice walk on the hills with an incredible view of Farewell Spit, really feel like you are at the end of the world. Can be cold when windy. Good track.
We parked the car at Cape Farewell to make it easier with a 9 month old and 3 year old. We had wonderful views of the coastline. 2.5 hour walk. A taxi gives you a ride back for $10 from Farewell Spit cape to the carpark.
Amazing one day track, next to Wharariki Beach, where you can admire baby seals playing. The whole thing for free, with a really nice cafe at the start. Sweet as!
Sheep and cow paddock, very nice view over the Fletchers Beach and the Wharariki Beach campground.
A really nice walk with an amazing view over all of the Golden Bay. The archway is awesome, the Farewell Spit Cafe is the best cafe we have been to.
Absolutely amazing, fascinating landscape.
Amazing New Zealand nature.
Great view from the top of the hill.
An easy 30 min walk to a huge empty beach with easily found fossils. Excellent cafe at car park - Paddlecrab cafe.
Thanks to all the good people working for the NZ Department of Conservation - for all your hard work - making NZ more beautiful, accessable and healthy! Cheers 😍
