My family of 5 (3 small children) stayed here for 5 days this summer.
We had a wonderful experience and highly recommend the park. It is quiet, very clean, free hot showers, and everyone was friendly and helpful. They had a few bunnies and animals that my kids loved. Location was great for us as we prefer quiet and charming and don't mind the short drive to attractions in Wellington.

Was unsure about staying here after some reviews but glad we did.
Came in a camper for a non powered site. Friendly staff on phone and at desk. Plenty of toilets and hot showers. Large fully equipped kitchen with multiple stations. Washer $4 and dryer $2 for 26 mins. Dump station and water available. Nice and quiet. Biggest plus was the goats, chickens and little pony.

Came off the ferry from Picton to Wellington late hoping to get a powered spot for our self contained camper.
Keith answered the phone late, was able to take payment over the phone, and was quick and easy to work with.
Haven’t used the facilities, but the grounds were easy to navigate and seemed well kept.
After dealing with a lot of bad spots, it was nice to come across this place easily and quickly from Wellington.
Thanks Keith!!!

I read some of the reviews and was expecting a fairly average experience but was pleasantly surprised.
Nice clean toilets and showers, pleasant reception, and tidy campsite. Was disappointing that there was a 6 foot fence between the campsite and the river so nothing special on the site itself but lovely public parks and walks right next door.

The place has some potential but the owners seem on the hopeless side - grumpy and rude except when taking payments.
They dont take suggestions about neccesary improvements kindly and tend to blame guests for the sad condition of the facilities.

Facilities a bit old. Someone threw our wet clothes out of the dryer on the floor and stole a t-shirt! Our baby girl's clothes were spread all over the ground! Seriously, who would do that?!

Nice facilities made it worth the $15 each for unpowered site, great toilets, hot shower, large kitchen and laundry, powerpoints avaiable in kitchen and laundry.
Farm animals around would entertain kids. Perfect for catching the Picton ferry the following day half an hour drive away - allow an hour though in case of traffic.

Sorry to say that I will not recommend this, felt very uneasy there!
Very old bathrooms but I must say it was clean! Laundry facilities old and not washing and drying as it should. But you don't have much other choice there, had to take the early ferry.

Expensive and unsafe (obstacles) Park.
Gravel roads with pot holes are very dangerous, particularly at night in wet weather with NO LIGHTING!!!. Has a rough stony bank with tree roots sticking out on journey from toilet to powered site. No toilet paper in ladies toilet pm or am. Poor shower pressure but toilets and showers clean. Greatly overpriced but their excuse is near Wellington. Would not stay there again.

The park is pretty nice & has a great location, but it's too bad our rating is so low due to its rude owners.
The husband & wife were inhospitable on multiple, separate interactions. We rented a standard cabin that smelled of mildew for $45 (a set price for the cabin, so my partner and I paid $22.50 each). This included 2 bunk beds, small electric heater, two power points, our own electric water kettle, & access to a minimal kitchen, but no linens were provided. At a variety of overpriced rates, there are larger furnished cabins to rent and space to park campervans and pitch tents. The shared facilities included a refrigerator/freezer, with 7 stove top burners, sinks, a few pots, pans and cutlery, 18 inch television, & a couple sets of tables and chairs. The laundry machines were cheap in comparison to local businesses (1 wash is $2, and 15 minutes to dry for $1).
Our stay was okay until the middle of the night when the heater turned off & wouldn't turn back on again. We also noticed that the clothesline next to our cabin was broken, & discovered that the women's bathroom was closed, leaving the gross single stall handicap bathroom alternative to the brave. It would have been nice to be warned of these limitations before booking, but we were happy to have a couple of trickling hot showers with poor water pressure.
When we tried to give the owner a heads up that the heater stopped working throughout the night, they tried to sidestep the problem. They brought us back to the cabin while we were checking out and closed an open window that they had secretly jammed open (we thought it was another broken amenity). They then blamed us for the mildew smell, which only made us want to leave more.
These factors were demonstrative of our last resort option, as we had been camping in the much better alternative Kaitoke Regional Park. If only there was better management of the otherwise good facilities.

I wanted to share my unfortunate experience.
My boyfriend and I were driving into Wellington, about an hour away and I called to see if they had any cabins available. I spoke with a women, at 5: 20pm, who said yes they had space and that she would hold the cabin for us until 6: 30. I said great, but then I asked of she could hold out till 7pm just on case we ran into traffic...She said, well of you have a credit card I can hold it all night for you. ..So silly me, I gave her my credit card#. About 45 minutes late around 6: 10pm, we decided to stop earlier because we were tired and called to cancel. She then told me she was going to charge my credit card a cancellation fee. I tried to dispute by saying that out hadn't even been an hour, well before.6: 30,.the original time she said she could hold it for, and that she never advised there would be a cancellation fee. She then told me to "Shut Up!" and that I was putting words into her mouth, told me that I was being unreasonable, "whatever you're being charged!" then hung up the phone on me. I had no opportunity to attempt to reason with her. I tried putting a hold on my credit card but she had already put the charge through. I tried calling her back about an hour later to advise her that I would be filing a complaint with consumer affairs and she said "Whatever" and hung up on me again. I was in shock at her immature way of dealing with a customer by just hanging up the phone. We never stayed their park so I honestly can't speak about the facility but the customer service was poor enough for me to write a negative review.
