What a lovely space to stop just 90 minutes north of Wellington when coming off the ferry.
As we were late , after 8.30pm, getting into the campsite Tina was very helpful and texted us the gate code as well as Wifi password, and we could settle the bill the following morning. So friendly we could also stay well after 10 and finally got going at 11.45…. The facilities were well maintained and clean and the showers so powerful, just a wonderful message, there is definitely a lot to explore here and Ruby our dog definitely loved the campsite too, we will be back:-)

We stayed in a powered site. The location is perfect out of the town close to the beach. You can enjoy nice walk in the beach. Have to say out of the sites we have been on so far these have the best showers. Facilities are clean and well kept.

But price for a tent place - 26 NZD- crazy! Have been in much better places for lower price! Even superior campsite in Hot Water beach of the same chain was cheaper.

For one of the more expensive Top 10 holiday parks we’ve stayed in, this one was one of our least favorites for a few reasons.
Could have been the time of year, but the Park was pretty dead. There’s what seems to be lots of long-term motor homes that are closed up, giving it a weird vibe. Facilities are fine, but again, most other Top 10s we’ve stayed at are better.
The young woman who checked us in was super nice. But we kind of had a negative experience the next morning when we were just sitting on a table in the kitchen making some bookings for later on in our trip. Yes, it was past the check out time, but we were literally the only people in the park, not bothering anyone. The room had been completely cleaned, and we were using our own wifi hotspot.
Another nice young woman came in and explained that her boss sent her to ask us to leave. She was super kind, but it’s just strange that at this place when there was literally nobody else there we couldn’t just sit and finish making a few bookings.
I understand there are rules so that you can give new guests the space or clean, but again, neither of these were a factor at the time. Just seemed unnecessary and strange.
For $52 for an unpowered site and not the greatest facilities or welcoming vibe, we would not recommend this holiday park or the area in general.

The facilities were good, excellent kitchen, super hot showers, small shop onsite. had some nice walks to the wetlands and along the dines to the beach. good site probably a bit busy in the high season, but in spring there was plenty of space.
