Short walk through the forest to the beautiful beach. Strange campsite layout, lot of larger groups. Campsite was almost full, stayed on non-powered site outside the area, but could use facilities - which were ok and clean. Tons of flies and dust.

Beautifully situated campsite, surrounded by forest, away from the main route. We really enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere here. The sanitary facilities are kept clean and simple. They fit wonderfully into the natural environment. The grass pitches are large enough. A beautiful path leads to a long and hardly visited sandy beach in five minutes. Highly recommended.

The campsite has very good vibes - the owners a very friendly, even at the end of season and Easter weekend... it's been packed. Facilities very basic but clean and I never had to queue up. Showers 1 $, powered sites 19 $, unpowered 15 $ ppn.
Beach access - the beach is stunning. Lots of space. One of my favorite spots in NZ.

A beautiful location on the coast. We walked along the beach, swam and enjoyed the sun. And after contacts with locals we decided not to go (again) to the tourist toppers (where many take a selfie), but to taste the many other highlights of the Coromandel. And we enjoyed it very much!
Tried to book here over the phone so we could pay in person upon arrival. Called multiple times every day for a week before we were to arrive to try and arrange this yet the phone was never answered and now the one night we wanted to come has been sold out. We also sent emails and left messages on there answer phone but alas still nothing.
We just love Opoutere. We travel the world and my children offen comment that Opoutere is there favourite holiday each year. Super spot, stunning beach, the Forrest provides days of entertainment in the shade. Huts, bike jumps, jumping off the bridge, eeling, surfing. What more could you ask for. Great holiday once again. Thanks for having us.
We have been to Opoutere Coastal camping for two summers and we love it. The location is beautiful, a mix of forest and one of the most beautiful beaches in NZ. The grounds are a mix of different areas with a river running through them. The staff are wonderful, always smily and accomodatating. The campsite has a great vibe because of this. It’s one of our favourite places to camp and the coffee is top-notch too!
Cosy and remote place located in a picturesque valley with quick access to the beach. Good facilities.
No WiFi and little cell phone coverage to really get away from it all. Love it!
