Superb campground within walking distance of the Marina, just watch crossing the road!

Several places to eat out within walking distance (adjacent the marina). Be sure to walk out to the lighthouse ( must be low tide). Drive to the very end of the private road to a carpark. Also be sure to check out the beaches to the north, especially the walk to Whale Bay

We stayed here three nights while getting my PADI Open Water Dive certification in the Poor Knights Islands.

The campground hostess is nice and the groundskeeper went above and beyond to help us get settled in. We stayed in a tent. We had a small car.

The communal facilities are clean and well stocked with appliances. The bathrooms are clean and the showers take $0.50 NZ for 7 minutes of hot water. Plenty of time for a shower (and cheap!) one of my favorite things about this campground is the birds! There are native NZ birds everywhere: Tui, fantail, red bill gull, paradise duck, pukeko, yellowhammer, silvereye, double banded plover and more! Go for an evening walk to see them at their most active. If you are lucky, you may hear the morepork and kiwi bird at night... Listen closely!

My girlfriend and I stayed here for 3 nights and it was the best camp site we’ve been to.

Colleen and Butch are the greatest, most kind people you’ll meet! The facilities were clean and all nice and close together. We’d certainly stay here again and highly recommend to other travellers!

Good spot if you’re going to Poor Knights, few shops cafes within 2 min walk.

Lighthouse walk from campsite about 5.5km return with some steep climbs and last climb only at low tide lovely views even without last climb. Follow sunami evacuation path left side of marina.

Park spacious with rural views bathrooms fine kitchens v clean.

The owner was very kind and generous to us a big thank you to her.

My family and I (2 adults 3 kids) stayed here for one night.

The staff were super friendly and helpful. They told us about different walks we could do and that we could see manta rays down the far end of the marina, which we did! Playground was good for the kids. Showers were good 50c for 7mins nice big kitchen and lounge area with wood fire going. Would stay here again.

We ended up staying here because the free camping down the road was full.

Spacious sites, nice location with ducks and cows for neighbours. The showers were fine and we were given the 50c on arrival. Great kitchen facilities and I thought the manager/owner was nice and helpful enough. No wifi though which I think these days is necessary, particularly when you are on the road.

Very nicely situated, well maintained campground with beautiful kitchen and beautiful grass sites, a 5 minutes walk from the Tutukaka marina.

Yes, hot showers cost extra but we got coins for that purpose upon check in from the reception (one free hot shower per person). I also don't see any issue with enforcing the check out time - 10 am is standard, and probably a lot of people abused their privileges before. Alas, no internet.

We recently just stayed here with a few other couples and had a couple of run ins with the ones who manage this property.

It was just before 10pm at night (keep in mind this is a weekend) when the lady comes past and shouts at us '10pm is quiet time, 10:30pm is even quieter time'. The rules that were listed in the kitchen mentioned that the noise cut off time was 10:30pm. She did not approach our tent, she instead shouted/scream at us. A bit of effort on her behalf to come and talk like an adult would've been appreciated.

We were told if we laughed, she would kick us out and make us leave at 7am. She was also walking around and shouting at people's campsite to go to sleep at 10:30pm. I mean, you're not my mother alright -.-

She would try and use scare tactics (mentioning her rottweilers and her security guards) and try to intimidate us.

The location is beautiful. It's a pity that the owners do not represent New Zealand in a way that would have people coming back to this place.

    Facilities OK.

Not flash, but adequate. However, the local staff is unbelievable rude. I don't want to write the whole long story, because that will take too much of yr time. But if service/hospitality staff dares to say to you 'why don't you piss off you old hag' after I asked staff to tone it down. They spoke around me like I was invisible and spoke nasty about another (USA) staff member. How terrible in front of customers (me). Then the daughter of the manager held a conversation loudly on her mobile 3 meters away from me to tell somebody on the other side that she was 6 weeks pregnant. Do I want to know? No!!!!! Was there no other space to talk? The whole campground! I was the only one left trying to read a book. But after half an hour I asked if they could please tone it down. Welllllll, talk about defensive.

Recommendation: don't go there, because these people who own and work there don't realise they work in the service/hospitality industry.

The holiday park is situated between the road on one side and farmland on the other- with lots of animals nearby (ducks, cows..).

Hot showers cost extra. Also you have to leave before 10 am - there is no way to get past the automatic gate after 10 am.

We stayed for one night and wouldn’t have added another. Also we felt the place is quite overpriced.

    Very helpful staff, good facilities.

Was fairly busy in April but not too noisy. Just a few minutes walk from the town centre and marina for diving and food. Showers were 50cents for 7 minutes and you get given a coin at entry. They were either scalding and a trickle or cold and a bit stronger. They get the job done but could be better, other campsites manage ok. It's a pity as it's really the only problem and it's a nice place.

We stayed here for one night after borrowing friends motor home.

No problem getting her in 8.5 metres long. Kids loved the playground and meeting all there new friends. 2min walk to Shops for dinner/morning coffees. Next time we're up we will be back.
