Soak up the atmosphere of this stunningly landscaped garden and unique homestead. Tūpare has recently earned the NZ Gardens Trust highest six-star rating - a distinction shared only by 13 other locations nationally.

Freedom camping (in certified self-contained vehicles only) is permitted in the Tūpare carpark.

Vehicles must display a current self-containment warrant card on the front windscreen and have their self-containment certificate inside the vehicle so that it can be provided to an enforcement officer upon request.

The card and certificate demonstrate compliance with the requirements of the New Zealand Standard for Self-Containment of Motor Caravans and Caravans (NZS 5465:2001).

Space in the Tūpare carpark is limited so it can accommodate a maximum of four motorhomes overnight, parked across the carparks, from 5pm until 9am. Please ensure you park so as not to obstruct the flow of traffic around the carpark. Please leave by 9am to allow space for other garden visitors. The maximum stay for any vehicle is three nights. The carpark is not suitable for caravans. There are toilets available down the driveway around the back of the gardeners’ cottage. The drive is too steep for wheelchairs.
