Whirinaki Forest Mountain Bike Track
I rode the DOC built, recently opened MTB track in September.
First third of the track was a mud hole - impossible to ride & constant water bars make riding unpleasant. Yet I would recommend as a summer (dry) ride.

Mid week skiing on a fine day can be superb.
This season grooming was good, staff pleasant and crowds light mid week to improve the experience.

Lovely location, right by the water on Mistletoe Bay, Facilities unkept, not clean, too expensive for the quality of experience.

We stayed here in November.
We thought it quite busy with foreign tourists which made it interesting, the beach is excellent, campground large, well organised + spotlessly clean. Highly recommended.

We crossed at night and the only outdoor space on deck was shared with smokers.
This was unacceptable!

Nice facility, not too expensive.
Not allowed to swim which is a negative for users of the large pool.

Well maintained and graded track, outstanding scenery, worthy of its reputation as being one of the best in NZ.

Maitai Valley Motor Camp
Lovely location by a small river.
Beautiful setting with its tress. Facilities old and a bit run down but not too bad when not crowded, I would stay there again.

Turoa Ski Area
The runs of new six pack chair are crowded with a dangerous mix of snowboarders + skiers, gross traffic makes it a touch and go experience.
Super hard snow makes for unpleasant skiing. All of the lifts are seldom run.
