Franz Josef Glacier Walk
The walk starts off in a rainforest and has some lovely views of the waterfalls.
The glacier itself was a bit disappointing as the viewing point was far away and the glacier was covered in rubble (typical for summer).

Very nice centre and an informative tour, we did not see very many albatross though!

This is a small but lovely indoor park.
We would recommend the backstage tour where you can see the chicks.

Friendly staff but had a commercial feel to it.
It was very busy so maybe they were concentrating on bookings etc.

One very good tour.
The penguin rescue hospital gives a great opportunity to see the penguins up close.

Great campground with a lovely view.
Some sites were a little strange looking (in the middle of the carpark) and there was no playground.

Chalet Lookout Track
We visited Fox Glacier in the summer and were not (ignorantly so) expecting to see the glacier covered in rubble.
The walk was not very clear (many turned around), and the end was a very steep walk up a hill. You were rewarded with a clear view of the glacier though.

Great place, we spent half of a very rainy day here and could have stayed longer!

Anatoki Salmon
If you visit Anatoki Salmon farm and buy their fish, you can stay for free on their parking lot.
It is lovely and quiet. Biggest bonus for our kids were the animals from the wildlife park next door.

It seemed that many of the 'attractions' were not well thought through.
It was tricky to use the mountain spotting activity and the kids corner just had cushions in it. As a result all the kids grabbed some books to look at (the ones for sale) only to be told off by the staff. I believe there is a Kiwi ranger program in this area. The cushions could be used for kids to look at the Kiwi ranger leaflets.
