Tonga Reserve Seal Kayak trip.
Great value - boat life and kayak and beach and boat ride. Guide was friendly and knowledgable, though the trip seemed a little bit rushed and she talked mostly with her boat mate and not the rest of us. Do not bother with the boxed lunch! Bring your own.

Nice facilities, clean, quiet.
Sites are small. Can walk to town (it is quite close). Major drawback - $10 deposit for entry card. Difficult to have an early start when you have to wait until after 8am to get back your deposit.

Not an essential hike, but a nice one hour stretch during a long day of driving.
Super interesting to see the path of the glacier and the ever changing landscape it creates. Could get really hot on a sunny day.

Turbo diesel is good on mountain roads. Service was excellent - very helpful. We even got to leave our suitcases behind with them.

Probably crazy in the summer, but calm and quiet in early Autumn.
Huge grassy sites, large shade trees, close to the beach. We loved the atmosphere. People obviously come for long periods here, and we see why! Kitchen and showers simple but clean.

Beautiful scenery but it is three hours of the same mountains.
Expensive for what it is. We expected more hilly terrain not just a riverbed to walk around in.

Three hour taste to the Routeburn Track - fantastic views from the top, interesting nature walk, just right for a half day walk.
One of top hikes ever.

Mitre Peak Cruises
Smallest boat available so could get close to the falls.
Also went all the way out to the Tasman Sea, which others do not do. Earliest cruise available so we had the Sounds to ourselves. Sound system needs some work - difficult to hear.
