Ottima esperienza!

Abbiamo preso un auto con tenda montata sul tettuccio per due, compresa di piccola cucina a gas, frigo, lavabo con acqua, tavolo e due sedie da campeggio. La tenda è completamente attrezzata: cuscini, lenzuola, asciugamani. Super comfortable! L’auto era una fantastica RAV4. Unici difetti: l’auto é poco fornita in termini di caricabatterie per telefoni e navigatore (infotainment un po’ vecchiotto). Per il resto, esperienza che rifarei domani stesso, consiglio vivamente a tutti.

We recently enjoyed a three-week campervan trip to explore NZ's north and south islands.

We booked Mad Camper's new model (the Mad Explorer) and had an absolutely amazing experience with the company. From the outset, we could tell that Mad Campers is incredibly thoughtful in everything they do - they gave us an introductory walk-through of the vehicle and the written instructions provided in the van were super clear. We had never stayed in a campervan before but the equipment and instructions they provided made living in the van smooth and straightforward for everything from using the kitchen to emptying waste water, etc. The Mad Explorer was so thoughtfully and efficiently designed, and it was very comfortable for two people. In addition, there were so many little touches provided by the team (e.g., welcome NZ chocolate and mad campers t-shirts) and with the van (e.g. oil, salt and pepper for cooking, great cookware and utensils, comfy bedding and towels) that made our experience a true 10/10. During our entire trip, we only encountered one small issue, and the team was immediately reachable and very helpful in supporting us to troubleshoot when this happened (it turned out the kettle provided was too high of a voltage for the circuit -- a really minor and easy issue to work-around). We can't recommend this company highly enough -- book with Mad Campers and try out the Mad Explorer!!!

Madcampers was absolutely awesome.

I have never used a campervan before and I rented the MAD1 as I was travelling alone. Due to some weird travel issues I had to pick it up a couple days later and they were very helpful with working with me on that. Once I got the camper, it was very comfy and easy to use. I was also happy it was easy to drive as I am from the USA and had to get used to driving on the other side of the road. When it came to cooking, I am not very experienced using a gas bottle stove, but it was easy to set up and took me less than a minute. I cooked most of my meals on it and it felt great to have that freedom. I would definitely use them again if I came back this way.My only comment would be that the provided fridge sometimes wouldnt get cold enough so I added some ice to it. Still, amazing time.

Great experience with the MAD2 and Mad Camper crew, especially as it was our first time renting a campervan.

Van was super comfortable to sleep in, fully kitted out and easy to drive. Team was super helpful and communicative, thanks guys!

The Mad2 is a Great Campervan with the best service you can imagine.

The car has everything you need and we had a lot of fun driving around with it. Since the travel situation in New Zealand changed suddenly very fast due to Corona, they helped us with the rebooking of the ferry and were in close contact. That was a big help during that time! We would definitely recommend to book with Madcampers!

My partner and I spent 5 weeks in our amazing MAD 2 camper.

The Ultimate Fair-weather adventure van

We travelled one way ChCh to Auck. and loved every second. The van was incredibly reliable, and the engineering support was second-to-none (we broke our key and had to call them on Sunday evening; he picked up immediately and helped sort the problem!)

The MAD colleagues were awesome. They were genuinely passionate about camping, super helpful and really encouraged us to get involved with the MAD challenge (which was awesome)

Inside, the van has a clever set up, maximising space whilst keeping you in the outdoor lifestyle. It was self contained which allowed us to park pretty mush anywhere and cook, camp and enjoy NZ. The bed was comfy; we had adequate storage (especially with the top box), there was a fridge big enough for a few days provisions. The cooking space is great and the utensils perfect (my partners a bit of a snob when it comes to this but he loved the cooking stuff). The sink is small but adequate and the hose is a good addition.

Ultimate adventure van.

The price for our duration couldn't be beaten (believe me, I tried).

Things I wish I had known:

- Take a mosquito net/ hire the net from MAD. Sand flies are NZ version of the Scottish midgy/ hungry mosquitos

- Bunnings shop sell chairs super cheap. Buy these and also stretch to a table - we wished we'd done the latter

- We were incredibly lucky with good weather; the cooking and cleaning set up worked well for us but not sure how it would fair in poorer weather

The staff are very helpful on pick up and give a great introduction to the vehicle.

We had a technical issue whilst on the road and they were just a phone call away with assistance. The van itself was in good condition with almost everything you'd need provided from the team and also a great selection of left-over products to pick from at HQ. Downside would be we booked the canopy which was overpriced and never used as it just isn't practical when constantly on the move or even that easy to use.
