Sure it’s great in summer but when wet it’s a boggy field.
Luckily we walked into see what the ground was like first. Only go if dry!

It would have been amazing but it was water logged but I couldn't see that in the dusk light.
I got stuck in the mud and couldn't get out.
I stayed there the night, I was the only van, very quiet! A visitor to the recycling helped me get out.
Other people had obviously had the same issue!

Lovely spot, beautiful view of the mountains.
Very quit. Big grass field, space enough. It was only us and one other campervan, so we could both stay away from the recycling bins. Entrance has some big holes, but if you enter on the left side it’s more flat. For us with a big campervan (4,5 tonne) no problem, but can imagine with wet wether this could be problematic. No toilets.

no toilets (apply Leave no trace rule), but the morning view is beatiful.
Lots of space, perfect stopover for Duke’s nose trail. all in all pretty sweet spot, you can stay pretty far away from the recycle bins.

Lot of space on grass and relatively flat but no toilet.
Just next the recycle center of Totara North

It’s a field close to a road, but very quiet at night.
There’s a view to the mountains.
Awesome spot to spend the night when you want to head to Dukes Nose the next day!
Only 2 other campervans there
Only downside it that there’s no toilet

Nothing fancy just a field really.
We stayed here before trekking Duke’s Nose the next day (10/10) and it was great location for us. Just us and one other camper there.

Site is open now anyway.
Loads of cover and dead quiet. Only downside is the lack of toilets but it's a free, quiet site so that's good enough for me!

Great place to stay!
Quiet. Good for families and kids to run around. It’s next to a recycle station. Hardly anyone during the day, more later at night but all gone by morning. There were about 10 other campers there but plenty of space for everyone! Closest shops, dumping station, toilets, free water refill and Doubtless Bay laundromat $4 for 36mins and $5 a shower (awesome staff) in Mangonui 20-25mins up further. Public outdoor showers in Taipa. Hope this helps! Happy camping

This quiet flat camp is great if you are truly self- contained as there are no toilets or bins (there is a recycling dump station here).
A pity some people don't know the etiquette of not going to poop in the bush. There are toilets about 4km down the road. When we were here it was dry but I imagine some parts could be quite boggy in wet weather.

Really nice spot in summer!
Not too sure how it would be in winter as it’s basically a big grassy field. Lots of space and nice to be surrounded by trees. No toilets so you would need to have your own

They have a recycling area but no rubbish bins available so pls don't dump your rubbish here! No toilets just to make aware but a lovely place, no issues at all.

Nice grassy campground but with no facilities.
Limited noise from the nearby road can be heard as well as plenty of chirping birds. The terrain is flat, and some areas are flooded, also access through a narrow entrance is now muddy, so not suitable for heavy campers as you may get stuck in the mud.

We used this place 2 years ago and have revisited this time after sea kayaking at Tauranga bay.
Very quiet location no facilities and next to the village recycle point.
Noticed sign for pub food so went 2km into main area but pub was just shutting (6pm Sunday).
Entry to field very wet so bigger motorhomes may struggle.
Nice big area so very private and only 20 mins to the beach

Clean peaceful campsite.
No toilets. Great for a free camp if you are driving through. There's a nice little craft shop further in to Totara north and a quaint litte harbour.

When we arrived due to the rain it was very boggy too much for us and a smaller van to use, literally just off the road.
Would be great in dryer weather.

Large open flat area next to dump.
A local hoon arrived as I was setting up to do skids and doughnuts in the grass with his beaten up car. I promptly left.

Nice spot tucked away behind a hedge of trees just off the road.
Large area to park, good, quiet place to pull in for the night. Only minor problem, no toilets and located next to a little local rubbish and recycling station. Other then that, I recommend a night here.
