The Hukafalls Jet is a solid Taupo pick. You're on the Waikato River for around 30 minutes, hitting 80km/h, spinning 360s, and getting right up to the base of Huka Falls. It's the only operator allowed down there, so the water-level view of the falls is genuinely something you won't get any other way.

The guides get consistent praise across the board. Enthusiastic, interactive, full of banter. The ride itself pulls high scores from a wide range of people, families, couples, solo travellers. The most common gripe is that it's over too fast, which is probably a good sign. A few people flag the price as steep for a half hour, and the photo packages aren't worth it so bring your own camera.

    Really good ride, only we sat at the back of the boat and could not hear what the driver was saying. But it did not take the edge off the ride.

  • Great fun riding on the Jet Boat.

    Everything was a target '360s were exhilirating, getting close up to Huka Falls was great but no history given by guide. Very expensive for 30min ride and photo package also cost too much.

  • Paying $109 for a 30 minute jetboat ride is way too expensive I think.

    Plus the costs for your pictures at the end. Yes it was amazing, but paying $109 for that??
