Literally the worst car rental experience I have ever had. Only posting one picture — that of the van with over 160,000 kilometers on it (over 100,000 miles) — as it tells you all you need to know. Van was probably from the 1990s (it is now the year 2022!), Awful stench emanating from the vehicle (likely urine, vomit, old food, etc.), 3 grimy children car seats, a door that doesn’t fully shut, power/auto key lock that doesn’t work, tires with little traction (huge safety issue) that spun out on a hill (almost rolled backed into the car behind us), poor upfront customer service and no (zero) in-rental customer service, and to top things off, a bright purple and green color (with no advance disclosure this would be the case) to the van! Had a decent experience with Jucy the first and only other time I rented with them, but will never return. Renter should seriously beware!
What a scam....be very careful with your inspection report even when they tell you its all fine. Cars are junk and trashed. On return they will pin historic damage on you for extra $$$.

Actually heard our hotel staff telling another couple to be careful of local rental agents and here's why.....
DO NOT USE JUCY! You have been warned. They didn't clean our van and we had to clean someone else's hair off our bedding, someone else's possessions out of the van and clean someone else's food off the kitchen and camp table. This was during COVID when they promise to do extra cleaning. The van was also fitted with illegal tyres which we had to get changed during our holiday - which took two days out of our trip. Jucy didn't give a damn either - they gave us $200 back (out of $1800!!) but only because we pushed. They didn't even call us. Absolutely disgusting service. They have a terrible reputation and now we know why. Every Jucy van driver we spoke to over 2 weeks had problems too. Don't do it - you'll regret it.
They obviously like younger people being 69 years old I felt out of place and not given service as would be expected in this climate they missed out on a one month hire .I wanted to look the part and freedom camp it is the second time it has happened in 5 years .Book online so they don't see your age. Yes Jucy has done well but they have ignored the local hire scene for campers .

Growing up in New Zealand I always thought Jucy Campervans would be amazing, the bright green vans are everywhere and everyone seems to enjoy them. For us, camping with a Jucy Compass Campervan was not this case. When we arrived to pick up our van we weren’t greeted, 3 employees continued to chat amongst themselves about their personal life and one stood up and announced he was going for a “durrie” (cigarette). One of the employees finally decided to look up our reservation. After a good 20 minutes we sat there waiting for her to work out how to do her job. The lady mentioned that because we had booked “Stress Free Insurance” we would get the camping chairs for free! Lovely we thought, until she had seen we already pre-paid so the free add on chairs were out of the question now... it took her a further 20 minutes to work out if we had paid in full for the whole campervan or if we had a remaining balance, in which she had to ask another 2 employees to help her. We were then asked to wait outside for another 20 minutes until the lady drove our campervan around from the back and began to give us a very uneducated, uninformative description about how the campervan worked and it’s features - none of which she had any idea about what she was talking about. If English was my second language I would struggle to understand this process with Jucy and the way their employees act. After a near 1.5 hour delay we were finally on the road to begin our road trip. A 7 hour drive later we arrived and figured our how the features of the van worked by ourselves. We discovered 1 camping chair broken, the van speakers were blown and the secondary battery didn’t work so we had no refrigeration. On return of the vehicle no form of a sorry or discount was even offered to amend this annoying and last time experience with Jucy. On top of that, the social media manager of Jucy “Lucy” replies to questions online but is rude and unhelpful.
We booked and paied for a campervan weeks in advance. We got the car in Auckland today before 9am. After a 2h drive, the car just broke. Now it’s 9pm, we are still stucked, with no car and no solution. We lost the whole day and are about to lose another one because nobody in the 24h jucy service knows anything. They put us in a hotel and did not tell us what to do or what to expect. Honestly they could not care less about their costumers.
DO NOT USE JUCY - THEY SCAM CREDIT CARDS!
I rented a car in Sydney and dropped it off in Brisbane from October into November 2018. I agreed to pay for the extra one way fee and thought that all went ok. Then on January 2nd 2019 my credit card got charged for an extra $95 by Jucy rental cars. When I asked what this was for they told me it was an additional "stress free cover" they had forget to charge me for.
I can not believe that any company has the cheek to steal money from a credit card over 2 months after the rental agreement has finished.

Me and 3 friends rented a Jucy Styla car from Christchurch. Pick up from the Christchurch outlet was a breeze and customer service was excellent even though it was on a busy Christmas eve afternoon. Drop-off at the Dunedin Airport outlet was very easy as well. The car worked fine with good petrol efficiency, although there were obvious signs of wear and tear when we got the car eg. scratched tyre rims, slight scratches on the body, slightly torn seats. Customer service was aware of this and acknowledged these wear and tear, so it worked out fine. Would definitely recommend this company for long-distance drives.
