We booked a 5 week hire from Christchurch to Auckland with Ross at CamperCo and have to say the experience with them from start to finish was brilliant.
Ross was fully transparent with all his information, telling us the van could be a few years old but were clean and well maintained. We were so happy when we picked up the van, it was spotlessly clean and everything from china mugs to bath towels were included, they had thought of everything to make our journey as comfortable as possible. The fully comp insurance was just that, no sneaky clauses... unlike with Indie Campers!
Ross said to contact him by WhatsApp or email if we had any problems at all and it was fantastic to have that reassurance to be able to talk to a person... again, unlike Indie Campers.
Our whole experience with CamperCo was wonderful and I would 100% recommend anyone to book with them for a stress free holiday!

This is the second time we have booked a motorhome with this company!
The first was when they were called Affordable and now as CamperCo.
On both occassions we had fantastic communication with the company and as we were booking from Australia we were a bit hesitant not having face to face meetings but Ross certainly made us feel secure.
As we were flying into Queentown we were meet by an agent and driven to the delivery/pickup point. A quick once over and instructions and we were on our way.
The motorhome never missed a beat. Was a pleasure too drive and very comfortable.
Once i sorted out the bed it was very cosy and warm and i suffer from a bad back and bad hip pain (and since returning to Australia have had a full hip replacement) i am writing this from my hospital bed. The bed was great, no pain at all!
It was five days before we realised the fridge wasnt turned on ! But as it was pretty cold we didnt think to check it. The first few days were cold and we used the deisel heater at night and it was brilliant! We were initially worried it would use a lot of deisel but unnecessarily! It used minimal amount of fuel!
I cooked nearly every night and we used the outdoor table and chairs that were supplied to eat in places with the most amazing views.
Having the toilet made it possible to free camp as we did a few times and the emptying of the toilet cassette and waste water was easy.
All in all a fabulous experience, great holiday, great communication and i highly recommend Ross and Camper co!

Ros is timely and giving us a lot of advice on handling the Motorhome and travelling south island.
We are saved by his advice on not to book anything first to be flexible on our trip, so we only booked those activity that sold out fast.
And in reality it’s true that we have to shift some of our itinerary because of weather condition.
The rental feels very personal, one of the best customer service experience I’ve ever had.
Motorhome quality is super good, Ros must have been taken care of it pretty well

This was the second time we rented from camperco. We came back to them beacause of our great experience the first time and we wern't disappointed.
We hired a Mercedes Sprinter Nomad for 7 weeks on South and North island.
Camperco do not badge up their vans with advertising logos so you don't feel like you are a driving billboard.
There is no hard sell of extra insurance like the big companies give you when you pick up the vehicle. Its all up front. And there is an upper limit to the premium, so for a seven week trip, this was way cheaper than others with full cover including excess. There is no restriction for gravel roads as most of the big companies have ( Skippers Canyon and 90 Mile Beach are the only restrictions, from memory)
The van performed well and was great to drive and had everything you need on board (great selection of sharp knives).
We had a minor problem with a warning light that turned out to be a false alarm, this was sorted by Ross for us with a quick visit to a garage close to where we were , so it did not impact on our plans at all.
All in all a great service, Ross was a pleasure to deal with from start to finish.
We would definately rent from them again and would recomend them without hesitation.

We rented the sleepervan for 6 weeks for a road trip from Christchurch to Auckland.
We had a really good time and thanks to the sleepervan we were able to stay at great overnight places. Despite the more than 350.000 kilometres already on it, the car still felt great and reliable. We didn't experience any problems along the way, slept great in it and therefore had the holiday of our lifetimes. If we would ever be able to visit New Zealand again, we would make use of CamperCo again without a doubt. It's the best way to experience everything!

We loved our stay in NZ and CamperCo definitely made that possible.
We (M30F30) had the campervan and it was perfect for us. Everything worked like a charm and Ross is very approachable for questions if the need should arise. Because CamperCo is a smaller company, the contact was very good and personal. We really appreciated the efforts they put in helping us prepare our trip, and we really felt like the booking was tailored to us.

I rented a Camperco Sleepervan (Toyota Estima) for three weeks to solo-travel around both islands and had a brilliant experience.
Ross was very easy and fast to communicate with both before, during, and after the trip, and the vehicle was great to drive. It was also very well outfitted, including a powered fridge, a back-up gas stove and battery, two chairs and a table, a wash tub and a near-new 2-person tent. The bed was very comfy, and I actually had people who had rented with other companies commenting on how envious they were of my set-up.

Pick-up scheduled for 10 am, van not where it should have been, when found was NOT READY.
No towels, no tea towels, no broom ( bought these out of our own pocket, lost receipts)bed linen NOT sealed in plastic (was it fresh?), handoff very cavalierly done, no office space or any other permanent site (???). Christchurch was behind us when we found the tank was just about empty! Unforgivable considering the dire consequences threatened if it's not returned full! When we called were told that turn-around had been rushed; why? Booked last JUNE, why was it not returned to the depot sooner? The money for that first fill-up was immediately returned, no problem there, but this is not something you expect of a rental company! The inside of the van was reasonably clean, not so the outside. Mechanically the van was in good shape; really liked the solar panel mounted on the roof, stove and fridge worked well. We had that van for 45 days and it never let us down. There is no depot in Auckland either; the company looking after this aspect - Euro Camper - inspected and signed off, but do they really care about the little things that didn't work? We found it somewhat strange that even a small company wouldn't have a permanent location with at least one dedicated staff member! Ross did remind everyone of the census that was held and was generally helpful in case of questions but you just couldn't shake the feeling that things had been done in a rush and therefore left you wondering whether they had been done right. We are not looking to get anyone in trouble but the administrative side -for lack of a better word - of CamperCo leaves a lot to be desired. Whether our experience was a one-off or happens regularly is beside the point, customers place their trust in a company and deserve the time it takes to get them safely on the road!

Thanks for hiring with us and thanks for your feedback which we welcome - good or otherwise. It seems the van went well, had everything onboard that is supposed to be there, and we were there when you needed us to answer any questions, so that's great!
We are a small NZ owned and operated company. We don't have dedicated sign written depots which allows us to keep our prices very competitive - in all our years of operation we have not had anyone point this out as a negative. In Christchurch you'll meet me, in Picton you'll meet Mike, in Nelson you'll meet Alan. In Queenstown & Auckland we (along with a few other camper hire companies) use agents as this is the only way we can affordably offer those locations. If a dedicated sign written depot with uniformed staff is important to you then a smaller company is not the right fit.
We picked you up from your accommodation in town and drove you directly to your van. It was a tight turn-around, and the guys still had 10 minutes of work to do to get it fully ready. On the rare occasion a van isn't quite ready, we would rather the customer wait a short time than to rush & send out a van that isn't fully ready. When you left your van was fully clean, safe and ready to go. We don't supply towels in that model as there is no shower, as per the list of inclusions on our website when you book. Yes the linen was fresh and clean. No, it wasn't sealed in plastic as this is not industry practice and is environmentally unfriendly.
As mentioned we welcome and value all feedback so thanks for taking the time to write a review. We've looked back over our correspondence. Aside from a 10 minute wait at pick-up, and the tank not being full (immediately fixed) I'm really not quite sure what else we did wrong. Maybe a smaller style company is just not for you, and that's OK, everyone is different. Next time you may like to try one of the bigger commercial companies instead. It was really nice to meet you and all the very best, Ross.

We travelled the North and half of the South Island with the 2-3 Berth Motorhome (with toilet and shower) for 5 weeks and definitly fell in love with our camper. It was well maintained, really good equipped and fitted all our needs. As we travelled as a couple we could use the back part of the camper as our sleeping area.

From the day we enquired about this rental opportunity, Ross has been nothing but professional in all aspects, from our initial communication, to pick up at airport, information during our hire period, and the return of the vehicle.
The Motorhome exceeded our expectations and was more than comfortable for the entire 9 weeks. Being fully off grid, we freedom camped all but a couple of nights where free camping was prohibited.
