Puketapu Park is one of the Hawkes Bay's freedom camping zones. Here, certified self-contained campervans and motorhomes can park for up to two nights, courtesy of the Hastings District Council.
Keep it clean - take your rubbish with you and dispose of wastewater only in official dump stations.
Cheers to the council for the free-camping goodness!

Loved this place. Amazing play ground for kids (or adults) and a large grassy area right next to the car park for the kids to run around in. Toilets are very basic but they were clean with paper in but as mentioned no lights in. Hens and cockerels are friendly and roam around and may wake you with there dawn chorus but well worth it.

Sited right next to the children’s playground. The passing road isn’t too busy. The on-site toilets are clean but have no lighting. We didn’t try out the bbq stand in the park. The cockerels woke us in the morning. Can’t complain as it’s all free.

Parked right by the ocean. There was a single bathroom less then a minute away, the parking lot was super full. Watched the sunrise in the morning on the rock beach
An excellent spot to stay for families. The playground is awesome and heaps of space to kick a ball around.
Really nice place! Flash toilets cleaned every morning, nice playground for children (we tried everything after the children left). Good with the trees as shelter from sun and rain, free running curious chicken, right outside the village. Can recommend that spot.
Nice free spot to camp with flush toilets and a nice playground for children.
