Begin at Clarence Valley Road car park and wander through European and Japanese larches before entering subalpine scrub and open grassland. Continue to the summit of Mt Isobel (1324 metres) for panoramic views of Hanmer Basin and beyond. Return by the same route or by descending a steep track to meet Waterfall Track and via Jolliffe Saddle and up Pawson Rd back to Clarence Valley Rd car park.

I walked from the village to the Clarence Valley Road car park (2-3 kms) and walked up the Mt Isobel track. The track is tough towards the top of the range. I descended a different way via a steep track (approx 200m) to meet the Waterfall Track. The waterfall was rewarding. The walk back to the village didn't take long.

Great waterfall if you start with the waterfall track. Very clean and tasty water. Awesome view on top of Mt Isobel. Definitely a must do in Hanmer!

Spectacular views from the top, but hard walk, take your time and proper shoes!

'Map' $3 (seemed a lot), good park to waterfall. Very pretty, can then cut across (though not shown on map), to summit Mt Isobel 1342m, good track all the way except scree near the summit. Back the same way as van in waterfall carpark. Time taken 4hrs.

A really good 4-5 hour track. Once you, get to the top you can see the whole town.
