5 Basic Camping
Situated on a pest free island, so please leave your rats at home! From Otehei Bay, turn right at the end of the wharf and follow the archaelogical walk towards the southern end of the island which takes about 30 mins. Look for the white triangle marker in the bay.

Stunning views and a really nice bay to swim in.
This bay is a lot quieter than the larger Urupukapuka bay campsite, which was full of jetskis when we visited during the school holidays, however is probably a 20 min walk with a couple of hills from Otehei Bay where the ferry comes in.
The site is well maintained and there is a very refreshing cold shower to get clean after the saltwater. Lots of shade around the edge of the campground when needed.
Needs booking on DOC website.
Nice campground and beaches
Incredibly friendly owner, very personal and welcoming; clean amenities, large and well equipped kitchen.
Small site, excellent facilities on this site, helpful people.
