08Oct18. First time here. A big campsite but not busy at all when we were there. Friendly reception. Large level pitches. Good facilities.
Pay showers but water is an issue in this part of NZ. 50c for 6 minutes. There is a counter on the unit so you can see the remaining time and put more money in if required.
There is a vehicle wash down facility. It is on the boat ramp and very sandy so expect to walk sand inside unless you brush it off first!
On our next visit to NZ we will come here again as we will always visit the nearby Grove Reserve.
Drive further round towards Tata Beach. Not sure if that is where we had coffee but it was beautiful. I could just sit there and enjoy the view for ages, and did.
On the way back check out the Abel Tasman monument and lookout. Interesting and great views.

Stayed here in May and we could have had any spot that we liked. Nice facilities with clean, hot, but pay as you go showers.
Right on a really nice walking beach.
Would highly recommend.

This is a quality top 10 site with great facilities, right on the beach, two great bars and restaurant over the road, a fantastic supermarket and brilliant staff.....everything a top 10 should be and is - spent two days there and loved every minute in late November. If your after budget and basic don’t go here this is top drawer.

What an amazing place!! Excellent facilities, right on the beach and close to Takaka for shopping/dining etc. Pohara is a great base to explore the Abel Tasman and Kahurangi National Parks.
The campsites are large and flat and we felt really secure staying there.
We would highly recommend staying a few days to explore the whole of Golden Bay.

Large site with spacious pitches, good clean facilities including excellent showers. Close to the beach. Very quiet when we visited, so not sure what it would be like if busy. Good takeaway at the entrance.

A lovely place, with a discount it was $41 a night for two adults, we were told to park where we liked so we went right next to the boat ramp. The tide was full and came right up to the grass and went out a real long way by low tide, not much in the way of shellfish. The camp facilities were nice and clean and the boss was friendly, it was a pleasant three day stay. There's a good equipment shop outside the camp with everything you could want, hardware, food, drinks, bait etc
DON'T miss out going to the salmon farm down the road, catch your own salmon and pay $22 a kg for it, they will smoke it or you can take it away and do your own which is what we did, yum!
