From the car park at Godley Head the walkway goes up the hill and stays above Breeze Bay. At the saddle the track crosses the Summit Road and from here much of the city is recognisable, including the Heathcote and Avon estuaries and New Brighton Beach.
The walkway joins the Taylors Mistake to Boulder Bay route, “Pilgrims Way”, along which it is easy to see cave dwellings. Please note: Part of this track is precipitous and care should be taken.
From Boulder Bay the track climbs back up to the woolshed and car park.

Stunning views and a fantastic place for a walk, run or cycle. Easy access for campervans, free parking and drop loos available. We had a picnic at the top, but it was a little too windy. Don’t waste your time and money on the Gondola, you have the same (if not better) views here! And there is so much to explore. Lots of old military bunkers etc. Highly recommend.

Cliff top walk from Taylors Mistake, amazing view of Christchurch, blue sea and we saw dolphins! Bit chilly in some parts.

Starting from the Sumner Clock Tower, we have some trouble finding the start (tip: photograph the route overview), but afterwards the walk was very rewarding. Great ocean views from the cliffs. We walked until the beach and had to return afterwards for lack of time.

About as hours walk each way with a well maintained track along the cliff edges round the headlands on backs peninsula. Great sea views + ends up at the old WWII gun mounts.
