    STAY AWAY FROM gorentals.co.nz LEFT US WITHOUT A RENT A CAR WE BOOKED AND PAID TEN DAYS IN ADVANCE

    We had a disappointing rent a car experience with GO Rentals New Zealand at Christchurch Airport. We had booked a rent a car in Auckland for pickup in Christchurch and were expecting either the vehicle we booked or an upgrade. Upon arrival, we were given a downgrade, a smaller car for the same price. Without any explanation. My wife has a phobia of small cars due to a bad car accident in the past. When we insisted on receiving what we booked or something equivalent or bigger as was written in our fully paid and signed contract, we were first lied to (the car you are renting is better) which was not true and afterwards the employee lied that we booked an older year car and this one is small but new and then suddenly the manager accused us of being impolite, an accusation that was completely unfounded. We called out their lie and demanded what we booked and paid for. Go Retals New Zealand manager was the one that was unprofessional and unpolite.

    Instead of resolving the issue, he canceled our New Zealand rent a car contract, claiming it was no longer valid, despite us having already signed it, even for the smaller worse car. They promised a full refund, but I have yet to see any of that money, leaving us unable to rent a vehicle in the meantime as bank was closed to put more money on the prepaid card and no one takes cash in New Zealand. We contacted the New Zealand police, because we thought we were getting scammed, they informed us that they noted what happened and that this is a civil matter, which means it will take time. We contacted a lawyer. In short, our holiday were ruined, and we were left stranded without a rent a car. In our opinion, it is a lack of respect for the law and the customer. Should be cautious when considering GO Rentals Christchurch NZ, as in high season you might be left without a car.

  • We had two numbers to call for pick up.

    One had a message to call later and the other no one answered. Called multiple times while at the airport and finally gave up and rented from budget. Go charged me for the rental I never got.

  • Appalling.

    I paid for rental in advance. Hours before landing in New Zealand for car pick up, GO Rentals refused my hire because they wouldn't accept my valid current temporary Canadian drivers license. It doesn't state this anywhere on their site nor their rental agreement. They then kept nearly $500 of my deposit for a cancellation fee and related costs - on a rental they cancelled. I tried for weeks to resolve this + they don't care.

    Their competition hired me the same vehicle with my same license at a better price.

Unfortunately, as per our Ts&Cs, we cannot accept temporary Driver Licences from overseas, these must be full valid and unrestricted. Unfortunately, without another main driver with a valid full Driver Licence, we wouldn't be able to proceed with this booking, therefore this would incur a 10% cancellation fee as per our Ts&Cs.   • Be VERY careful with these guys.

    I have no problem paying tolls but they seperate tolls over a 4 day period to cover almost a month of dipping into my credit card to rip me off $,25.00 per rip off. No integrity but once burnt twice shy. Can't be trusted not to touch your credit card up.

  • • Go Rentals [NewZealand] are astute thieves.

    They slap you with a 10% cancellation fees immediately (not even a wait period of 24 hours) even if the booking is made for 3 months in future without disclosing this information (buried somewhere deep in their fine print). This practice deviates from all standard practices of renting cars in New Zealand, where free cancellation, 24 hr cancellation, 48 hour cancellation or in some rare cases (such as Ace) even 14 days cancellation policy are in effect. They make every attempt to hide this information from you until you make the booking. They are a shame for kiwis and New Zealanders.

  • Got charged a cancellation fee even though I cancelled two weeks in advance and because of Omicron.

    Never been charged cancellable fee from other rental car companies. Will rebook but not with them.

  • Picked up at the Queenstown branch, which is just outside the terminal, less than a minutes walk.

    The staff were great and our Corolla drove like a dream!

  • Absolutely genuine, caring staff who provide first class quality customer service at the branches (P/U at Ak Airport Branch and D/O at Ak City Branch) and on the phone when I called to extend my hire.

    GO rentals made everything easy and stress free which made our holiday away that much more enjoyable and memorable.

    Affordable prices which is worth every cent with how well you are well looked after.

    The vehicle we rented was extremely comfortable, great looking newer model SUV and was fantastic to drive. Will only hire rentals from GO Rentals.
