We rented a vehicle from this place in Auckland Airport for a week. We inspected before and after hiring and so did they. No problems. The NEXT day they claimed that there was a crack in the windscreen and promptly charged us 600+ on our Visa. Several significant problems with this:
- we had no event / accident or noise that could explain a new crack
- BOTH parties agreed at drop off there was no problem or damage
- they billed an enormous amount (on discussion they have since reduced the double up they had on GST)
- time had gone by between drop off and the damage reported (anything could have happened)
- they claim it was just difficult to see and they missed it first time (how many inspections do they get? couldn't they have missed it when they rented it out to us too?)
- Our contract with them was finished on first inspection and closure, yet they charged us without permission after that.

I was going to hire again later in the week but chose Uber instead.

We booked from Germany, rented in Queenstown and dropped it off in Auckland. It was all good as long as we had no contact with EZI. It was a good prize, but not the best car with a high consumption. In Auckland we contacted EZI Car Rental because of the drop off conditions (cleaning, tank etc...). We dropped it a few days earlier and there was no refund what was ok. But we asked them via phone if the car had to be clean and they told us that they would have to clean it anyway. So as long as there is no big pollution -which wasn't- it is ok to return the car a little sandy and not shiny from the outside. We dropped the car with the exact same amount of petrol as we got it, but it was not enough. And it turned out that everything they told as at the phone was wrong. We had to clean it, the drop off was not at the airport as the lady told us and the tank was not full enough. So we had to do this all last minute to get our flight. Otherwise we would have been charged with a kinky fee.

Be aware that there is no refund for early returns.
We find this unethical and non generous, considering they mitigate their loss by renting out the vehicle again.
Car was good and price was good.
Just poor ethical business that doesn’t encourage potential long term clients.

We had a great experience with EZI. Headquarters personnel answered several pre-rental questions promptly and friendly. Staff at the Christchurch airport was pleasant and helpful. Promise of a guaranteed RAV4 was kept. We would highly recommend EZI to travelers.

Hired a car from Ezi Car Rental in March from Auckland on returning the car I misplaced my handbag rang the depot after arriving back to my hotel and was told no handbag had been found at that time, after arriving back in Australia I rang the depot again to be told yes they found my handbag and described the bag and its contents I then left my address and credit card details to pay for the return of my handbag after three weeks and no handbag I contacted them again to be told that they could not send the bag as it contained perscription medication and a few cigarettes I then asked if they could just take my phone out of the bag and send the phone only I then left my details again as they agreed to post my phone only. A few days later a package arrives it contained an old phone with a cracked screen that did not belong to me I then contacted Ezi Car again only to be told that it was the phone they found in my bag How it got in my bag is beyond me? Now I'm not only without my phone I am $44.60 out of pocket for the postage of a piece of crap of a phone that could not be used even if I wanted to and left to pay off a phone thats still on a plan.What sort of people are working for you EZI CAR RENTAL?????

We booked from the UK, picked up at Auckland and dropped at Christchurch. We were able to pick up a couple of hours early. The car was an almost brand new model, spotlessly clean. It was a joy to drive. We took the full insurance package so when we got 2 stone chip cracks in the windscreen there was no problem. We phoned ezi car, told them about the damage and they gave us the option of returning the car for a replacement or continuing if the chips were not bothering us, which we did.

Ezi car also organised our ferry ticket as part of the hire package which was very helpful. When we dropped the car at Christchurch airport the hand over was trouble free. We would thoroughly recommend Ezi Car for quality of service and quality of vehicle.

We had a terrific experience with the Auckland airport office. All of the staff from the counter to the van driver were friendly, courteous and professional. I recommend them highly. Plus we got a great price on a Rav 4 with lane crossong warning which we found extremely helpful driving on the “wrong” side of the road.

Unfortunately we have made quite bad experience with ezi cars beginning with the taking over of the car where we had to get a translation of my drivers license although it was named in english and the different types of permissions where infographics. Interestingly everybody who came in had to make that, seems to be an additional earning. After two hours we had that translation but unfortunately still no car was ready, means we left the car rental 4 hours later than ordered.
With the car infact we had no problems at all as it was a quite new one.
The huge disappointment came at the very end. We gave back the car in very short time and went to the airport with a shuttle which we could take immediately. By arriving at the airport we realized that we left the camera with all the pictures of our 3 weeks trip under the passenger seat (we are 100% sure that we put it there, as just before on the way to the airport we made pictures from the skyline of Auckland). We immediately contacted ezi and where picked up with the next shuttle. We searched someone to talk but had to wait half an our before someone helped us. They told us that they whould check the monitoring video which took a long time. Meanwhile we saw and checked ourselves the freshly washed and prepared car for the next rental without success. After a worrying hour they claimed that they could not find the camera. Means it was stolen.
As the departure of the flight came closer they told us that they will send the camera if they whould find it later which unfortunately wasn't the case. Later by mailing I made even the proposition just to send me the memory card but did not get any further answer.
In summary we had a good car which gives two points but the contact with ezi was a huge dissapointment.
