Unfortunately we have made quite bad experience with ezi cars beginning with the taking over of the car where we had to get a translation of my drivers license although it was named in english and the different types of permissions where infographics. Interestingly everybody who came in had to make that, seems to be an additional earning. After two hours we had that translation but unfortunately still no car was ready, means we left the car rental 4 hours later than ordered.
With the car infact we had no problems at all as it was a quite new one.
The huge disappointment came at the very end. We gave back the car in very short time and went to the airport with a shuttle which we could take immediately. By arriving at the airport we realized that we left the camera with all the pictures of our 3 weeks trip under the passenger seat (we are 100% sure that we put it there, as just before on the way to the airport we made pictures from the skyline of Auckland). We immediately contacted ezi and where picked up with the next shuttle. We searched someone to talk but had to wait half an our before someone helped us. They told us that they whould check the monitoring video which took a long time. Meanwhile we saw and checked ourselves the freshly washed and prepared car for the next rental without success. After a worrying hour they claimed that they could not find the camera. Means it was stolen.
As the departure of the flight came closer they told us that they will send the camera if they whould find it later which unfortunately wasn't the case. Later by mailing I made even the proposition just to send me the memory card but did not get any further answer.
In summary we had a good car which gives two points but the contact with ezi was a huge dissapointment.

Booked a car for 8:30. After arriving at the Auckland branch 2 hours late due to flight delays were told the booking was cancelled as no contact was made. Hard to do when stuck 10000 kms in the air.

Nothing was offered as both cars had apparently been hired out already. Company Representative (I'd stop short of calling him customer service) shrugged shoulders, said there was nothing he could do, and then seemed to be offended when we were forced to make calls to other businesses while walking out of the building.

Pathetic customer experience. Cheap for a reason, they're useless.

Hired a rental in NZ - something we do each time we visit home...this time tried a different company - EZi Car Rentals at Wellington Airport..long story short..we have been charged $2,500 for a couple of chips on the rear bumper that were there when we collected the car..

Interestingly when we pointed them out at collection we were advised it was damage done on a previous occasion and not to worry, they admit they don't note chips, the guy who drove us back over to the International departure assured us we didn't do the damage and that it was there when detailed for us to collect...

Has anyone else faced this from this company??!

We waited over an hour to be collected by this company - after we landed and got thru customs - after wandering all over the outside car parks and calling them over the information phone ( which in itself was another excruciating experience).

At pick up: We had been in the go from just before midnight the day before and this was now close to 5pm and we still needed to drive thru to Hastings so granted, we were in a hurry and took the young Asian woman at her word - she also admitted she was keen to close up for the day.

On return: Again there was some urgency from us as a few traffic holdups into Wellington and the Airport had put us behind.. we felt highjacked as there seemed nothing we could do as they ( diff staff this time round) - and that back left hand side bumper was the first place he looked and insisted the damage was our doing.... even looking at the previous users and advising nothing was noted on the form there either...which didn't surprise me as they said themselves, they don't write down chips..I said well we did take out full insurance on making the booking, but it seemed wrong that we would be the ones whose insurance would be used to pay for someone else's damage..
I smell a BIG FAT RAT! Are they praying on those from overseas knowingly? We are all keen to get our holidays started and stupidly take their word.

The best part of this business was the shuttle driver from the airport who was helpful and informative - otherwise whilst reasonably priced the staff were rude and arrogant, the business inflexible. I would not recommend.

VERY MISLEADING insurance - despite taking out full excess waiver from Holiday Autos in the UK (an additional extra on their website), when we arrived to collect the car, Ezi in New Zealand required an additional $2,000 as the waiver we paid for through Holiday Autos was not valid. Several other people at the counter at the same time had the same issue. Even the woman at the Ezi counter admitted that it was a common issue and that the insurance was a rip-off.

Condition of car very poor. While we knew the car was not new, the car provided was covered in dents and scratches and the paperwork only had four items marked whereas EVERY panel had damage. We had to correct their sheet to show about 30 dents or scratches.

It was not obvious from the Holiday Autos website that the insurance link went to a third party site so very misleading.
