  • The rental van was immaculate drove like a dream supa cheap on gas I gotta say I had to admit that was the flashiest vehicle ild driven not to mention the mean Bluetooth sounds of my music oh yeah.

  • 1. We were not aware that the reservation we made was for a pickup far away from the airport.

    When we went to get the car from the airport, the agent was unhelpful in helping us getting a car there, and we had to take a taxi to the other site.

    2. The other site's pickup was great, with extremely nice agents, helpful and courteous.

    3. A day before departure, while being in Queenstown, I had a heart attack and was flown by a medical helicopter to Dunedin. My wife had to drive to Dunedin to get to me, unknowing how long I would be hospitalized. Your agent was unwilling to help with this serious situation and extend the car rental for a few more days.

    My wife had to waste time, and instead of driving (tge 4.5 hour drive to the hospital), she was made to drive to the airport, return the car to Budget, a day before, get no discount, and had to rent a new car from Avis, at a much higher cost.

    So, bad service in Budget Auckland AND in Budget Queenstown!!! It's not a singles occasion. It's a trend of bad service!!!

    This is totally disgusting and inappropriate for an international company like Budget!

    I'd love to hear back from you about this treatment of my wife, during a very difficult time and situation!!!

    Customer service when you have concerns is the worst I’ve ever experienced. You create a ticket and then nothing happens . Don’t hire from them or the Avis group which they’re part of.

  • Tried to change a booking 2 days out by extending it by another day (earlier).

    Tried online (wouldn't work), called the Auckland Airport branch (number on Google didn't work) and then made 3 calls to the 'helpline' to sort. Was told repeatedly that they would get in contact with the local branch and would get back to me. Didn't and then finally after 2 days and my 3rd call, couldn't find a car, then charged me the maximum cancellation fee as it was within 24 hours of the original pickup. It would have been a smaller cancellation fee, but the time ran out as they never got back to me. Incompetent service. Will never use Budget Rent a Car again.

    Paid up front. Picked up car, no problem. Returned car on time, clean and tidy, tank completely full. No problems. Returned home, (Australia), some days later, Budget charged my credit card an additional $150. I contacted them multiple times, 'best' answer I could get from them was the insurance cost more per day that I was quoted. How does a company do that AFTER the vehicle is returned? Is this a one-off instance? NO! Read the Google Reviews. It's happening all too frequently. Budget - Auckland International Airport does this frequently. DON'T USE THEM.

  • We had EXCEPTIONAL service from the Budget Rent-a-Car people at all service points: the Blenheim airport terminal, the Picton Ferry drop off, the Wellington downtown pickup, and the Auckland airport drop

    off. Every single employee we had contact with was friendly, professional, competent and helpful. The cars were clean and what we had reserved. The service was vastly superior to any we've received from any car rental firm anywhere else in the world. We will only rent from Budget on future visits in New Zealand.

  • Very happy experience.

    The car was modern and nice/tidy.

    Service Staff were nice and helpful.

    Best of that: they made a mistake that charged me with other vehicle (I rent 1day, they charged me 4days. a mistake caused by the similar car, similar return time), however once talking to there head-office and get things sorted, they refund everything and even refund the charge that I am suppose to pay for the 1 day rental.

    Every company make mistake, however they are willing to admit and correct and even with a little compensation. It was great!

  • We rented a mid range Toyota for 6 days to take us from Wellington to Auckland.

    Budget NZ

    Budget is not the cheapest but we chose them because their depots at either end were walking distance from downtown hotels which we had already booked. Staff were efficient and pleasant, and Budget does not fuss about stone chips which are unavoidable on NZ roads.

  • Rented a Toyota Yaris Cross at Christchurch.

    Was charged 3500NZD for a tiny dent caused by a strong wind that opened the driver’s door while exiting the car. Budget did not explain why they would charge that much. Opened a dispute with them. Always the same answer. Misc charges On top of it my rental had been paid before at Rentals.com. Budget regards this payment as a voucher. They then charge another amount for a rental that for le was totally paid. Never again with Budget. A real rip off.

  • It is a shame there is no zero star.

    Exactly what others have said, filled car with fuel before returning and was charged $128 for petrol. Budget do not send an invoice. You have to print one or ring and ask for one to be sent. I am waiting on receipts from fuel stations at the moment.

  • I pick up the car at Hamilton airport.

    Windscreen dirty which difficult with sun. Returned with full tank. However next day I was charged for refueling of car. Lodged a query but not getting anyway. My advise.. don’t go with this company
