Abel Tasman Sea Shuttle is my pick for getting around the park if you want to cover serious ground without committing to the full multi-day track. They run a tight operation out of Kaiteriteri, the catamarans are comfortable, and the crew actually know what they're talking about. The wildlife sightings are a genuine bonus rather than a marketing promise. Dolphins, seals, seabirds, and detours past Split Apple Rock come up again and again across the reviews. The crew seem happy to slow things down or swing off course a little when something worth seeing appears, which I appreciate.
The combo approach works well here. Take the boat up to one of the northern bays, do a few hours walking, then get picked up further along the track. Totaranui at the top end is worth the full ride if you have the time. It gets noticeably quieter up there and the scenery earns it. Staff are consistently described as friendly and knowledgeable, and the whole thing is well organised from pickup through to drop-off.

A locally owned water taxi company with purpose built, catamarans that have walk on/off ramp access to keep those hiking feet dry, where possible.
Departs up to 4 times daily from Kaiteriteri Beach and a daily coach transfer from Nelson/Motueka to Kaiteriteri.
The experienced skippers, informative and fun commentary, along with our comfortable vessels and many walk/cruise options, will be the highlight of your visit to the Abel Tasman National Park. All our vessels have ramps for easy entry and exit to the cabin area and toilets onboard for your comfort.

Operating Season And Hours |
Operates daily year-round, except for Christmas Day. Sea shuttles depart up to 4 times daily from Kaiteriteri Beach. A daily coach transfer service is available from Nelson and Motueka to Kaiteriteri. The connecting bus service from Kaiteriteri to Marahau runs from October 15th to April 30th. Bus transfers require booking at least one day in advance. |

Took the shuttle in partnership with Kaiteriteri Kayaks to spend a day on the water.
The water taxi was kind enough to detour on the way back in order for us to see Split Apple Rock.

Friendly and knowledgeable staff/crew. Loved the informality of only needing my first name!! Smashing guided tour from Kaiteriteri to Awaroa for the ambient experience. Well worth the money.

Was dropped off at Bark Bay by friendly boat driver, even brought us out of the way to show us Split Apple Rock, really sweet!

Good commentary from the captain. Although we were late he went slow so that the dolphins could join us and swim near the boat.

Discoverer Day; Disappointed with initial boat, no external seating, no hot drinks (can on survuve 9.15 to 11.30 am and no coffee!!!) Seating too low and exposed to spray.
The walk Medlands - Anchorage was excellent. Return boat 45 minutes, more comfortable and had COFFEE!!

They do a nice guided tour along some seal colonies on the way there.
