Camping NZ NEW

Welcome to New Zealand's most comprehensive database of freely available camping information. This is the only travel map of its kind in NZ.

This camp site only exists because of the good will of the café manager so…..it would be great if campers could support this local business by purchasing a coffee etc from the Café.

This is private land and you can get good coffee in the morning!

The Cafe owner has been particularly helpful in setting up this site and it would be greatly appreciated if campers can support the business.

This is a free responsible camping area for both contained and non self contained vehicles.

It does have toilets and bins.

This free camp is on private land in partnership with Westland District Council. Council site rules apply and council provide and service the bins and toilets.

Nice spot to pull over for sleep after an eventful day. There are portaloos but they were locked.

Was okay because it was free and right by a cute little Cafe! Is very noisy during the night due to trucks so didn't get too much sleep.

Good spot close to Greymouth and Hokitika. Good coffee ☕ to start the day with. Some farm views.

It’s a car park on a main highway (aka it’s noisy with trucks at night) but it’s a great place to stop before or after the Arthur’s Pass. Be sure to support local and grab a coffee before you hit the road in the morning

Great place to sleep for free! Plenty of room and a coffee place next to it. Self contained only.

There’s a lot of space for campers, you don’t need to be there early. No facilities, but a great café where you can get breakfast. You can also use their toilet and free WiFi if you buy breakfast. A bit noisy because of the road and not very cosy place in general. But great for a single night!

Great for a 1 night stop en route through SH6. Big gravel car park. Just off a road but wasn't noisy. Pleanty of space when we turned up. Right next to a lovely cafe which we visited when it was open in the morning.

Great place for a free night’s stay. It’s just a parking lot at a little coffee/honey store. Nothing special, but it doesn’t claim to be. The coffee shop opens fairly early in the morning, and they have fantastic coffee, bathrooms, WiFi, and honey (that I didn’t try).

We had a very good night at the parking of the Junction Cafe. We were not bothered by the near road, and the coffee in the morning was amazing, the staff in the cafe is super friendly !
no toilets at night but you can use theirs while having a Breakfast.

It is a big carpark next to a cafe where you can stay overnight. There aren't any facilities but for one or two nights it is just fine. Even though it is close to the highway it was not too noisy.

A big parking place for 20 campers without toilet. At 8 am the Café is open. For $8 you get a coffee and a muffin, and can use the toilet of the Café. Good choice of breakfast, coffee, teas and honey from the producer.
Had a nice stay there.
