Absolutely beautiful campground.
Went in Autumn so not many people there which made it even more special. We stayed in the dog friendly area which had a bathroom with flushing toilets and a $4.50 7 minute hot shower that you pay using payWave. Offers cheap $20 per night powered sites which makes it all the more better. Very limited phone service, but who needs it with the beautiful surrounds.

Great spot out amongst the trees.
Has all the Penny facilities you could need, flushing toilets, showers, laundry, charging stations, induction hobs and sinks for washing up. You do need a Penny card to use, but they’re great facilities and very clean. The spot itself is beautiful, right amongst the pine trees and stars. Great in between for Tauranga and Rotorua. Would happily stay here again.

Decent spot if you’re stuck around Auckland, but for not much else.
Flushing toilets and five designated self contained spots, but obviously no one is manning it as the whole carpark filled up with RVs.

The upper area for camping was ok.
Good amount of space for people to come along and park up. The three toilets available were ok for drop toilets but people very quickly filth them up. The river is stunning and was worth the stay but I wouldn’t be raving about it.

Not sure what the deal was, there’s a sign saying no freedom camping but it’s got all the penny facilities.
Didn’t stay because of the no freedom camping signs but did take a look at the facilities and they were dirty. It was a shame because it would have been a beautiful spot.
